If the Steelman can avoid defeat here, they'll stay third and add further evidence to what's been a strong start to the season.

They lost last week, but Stuart Kettlewell was adamant that was an impressive performance. They'll need one here.

Rangers likely won't be in the mood for entertaining any notion of a slip up. They need to stay in touch at the top and can ill-afford any European hangover.

After the high of Real Betis, what they need is momentum to keep the positivity going after a challenging period.

  2. Well have to 'go through hell' to get a resultpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Rangers v Motherwell (15:00)

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell realises the scale of his side's task at Ibrox despite their promising start to the league season.

"The players have to understand that they are going to have to go through hell and go through pain if they are going to get a result," he tells BBC Scotland.

But he adds: "We have not lost an away game since February and there is a reason for that."

  3. Beale gives update on Lawrence absencepublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Rangers v Motherwell (15:00)

Rangers manager Michael Beale again stresses the fact that the pressure is not off his side despite two wins in a row.

He tells BBC Scotland that two changes were forced on him, with Tom Lawrence missing out and Kemar Roofe only fit enough for the bench.

"Tom Lawrence will be back alongside Danilo after the first international break," Beale says. "We are certainly not going to rush them."

As the for danger posed by Motherwell, the Rangers boss adds: "Motherwell's away form has been remarkable, but it is important we start where we left off."

  4. Mackay names unchanged teampublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Aberdeen v Ross County (15:00)

Despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Livingston, Malky Mackay was full of praise for the performance of his County side.

Perhaps unsurprisingly then, he names the same starting XI as County look to kick up the table with a win at Pittodrie.

The attacking trio of Yan Dhanda, Jordan White and in-form Simon Murray will aim to pose problems for the hosts, while Connor Randall continues in his new midfield berth.

  5. Wright given start as Lawrence misses outpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Rangers v Motherwell (15:00)

Tom Lawrence is the notable absentee for Rangers after picking up a knock again in midweek just as the midfielder had pushed himself back into the side.

The surprise name on the team sheet is Scott Wright - the first time the winger has started under Michael Beale.

There's two other changes in the forward areas, with Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers coming in for Abdallah Sima and Kemar Roofe, who both drop to the bench.

  6. McGinn straight back into Motherwell sidepublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Rangers v Motherwell (15:00)

Stuart Kettlewell makes just one change to the Motherwell side that came up short against St Mirren at Fir Park last weekend.

Defender Paul McGinn returns to the team after serving a suspension, meaning Shane Blaney drops to the bench.

The so-far impressive midfield pairing of Callum Slattery and Blair Spittal will look to break things up and propel Motherwell forward against a Rangers side buoyed by European success on Thursday.

  7. Duk returns in three Dons changespublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 24 September 2023

    Aberdeen v Ross County (15:00)

After their impressive - yet ultimately unsuccessful - showing in Frankfurt on Thursday, Aberdeen manager Barry Robson makes three changes as he aims to get fresh legs into the side amid a hectic schedule.

Dante Polvara, who scored his first goal for the club on Thursday night, drops out the team alongside Leighton Clarkson and Jack MacKenzie - the left-back who conceded the penalty that allowed their German hosts to take the lead.

Duk is back in the starting line-up as the forwad chases his first goal of the season, while Connor Barron is in midfield and James McGarry at ful-back.

Fourth-top Rangers and visitors Motherwell, who are one point and one place above, will be desperate for three points given leaders Celtic and St Mirren both won yesterday.

Celtic eased to a 3-0 win away to Livingston despite playing more than half the game with 10 men, while St Mirren edged Heart of Midlothian 1-0.

You can catch up with the highlights of those and yesterday's other games by clicking the link below.

Aberdeen are only off the bottom courtesy of goal difference from St Johnstone, while Ross County are seventh and could potentially move above Hearts, Hibs and even Rangers depending on how results go.
