  5. McCabe double has Republic aheadpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 27 October 2023

HT: Republic of Ireland 2-1 Albania

Katie McCabe's two goals - the second of which took a wicked deflection - has the Republic ahead at the break but it hasn't been an entirely convincing performance by Eileen Gleeson's side. The Republic have looked a little ragged and while the Albanians haven't had much possession, they've looked dangerous when they do get into the Irish half.

That's much better from Northern Ireland.

Caitlin McGuinness is in the team for her pace and she finally gets to stretch her legs.

It was a good pass to pick out Rachel Furness, and a decent effort that was narrowly over.

    That's much more like it.

    Andy Gray

It's going to be a big team talk for Tanya Oxtoby as she looks to help inspire a comeback for Northern Ireland.

After a poor start, things definitely improved as the half progressed but they've yet to find that clinical touch when they enter the final third.

How soon will we see changes after the restart?

The Republic's lead lasts only three minutes as Megi Doci superbly volleys an equaliser after some sloppy defensive work by the home side. That's a bit of a shock for the 24th-ranked Irish who are expected to comfortably account for the 72nd-ranked visitors.
