Zanett Kajan is in action again.

This time, Northern Ireland fail to clear their lines despite multiple attempts, with Hungary passing the ball around at the edge of the box before Kajan gains possession and attempts to curl a strike into the top corner.

She comes within a whisker of pulling it off as her shot is just off target.

What a chance for Hungary to extend their advantage!

Zsanett Kajan's strike from the left hand side of the box pings off the post with Shannon Turner collecting the danger before anyone in a red shirt can steer home the rebound.

Well, it's safe to say that's not the start that Tanya Oxtoby would have been looking for.

There may have been an element of fortune to the goal, but for a team who are usually so solid that's a pretty sloppy goal to give away.

The pitch definitely isn't helping things, either, but Northern Ireland will have to adapt as they bid to hit back.

    Viktoria Szabo (18 mins)

Viktoria Szabo travels down the left flank and holds off marker Rebecca McKenna, before her attempted pass into the box sails over the head of Shannon Turner and into the bottom corner to open the scoring.

Not the ideal start for Tanya Oxtoby's side.

    Republic of Ireland

The big news from Tallaght Stadium is that defender Diane Caldwell will captain the Republic of Ireland as she wins her 100th cap in green.

Don't worry Republic and Arsenal fans, Katie McCabe is still in the team and has handed the armband over to Caldwell as she hits a century.

Tyler Toland's resurgence continues as she starts in the middle of the park, while striker Kyra Carusa will be flanked by the youthful duo of Abbie Larkin and Izzy Atkinson.

Republic of Ireland: Brosnan, Hayes, Caldwell, Quinn, McCabe, Toland, Connolly, O'Sullivan, Larkin, Atkinson, Carusa.

Subs: Moloney, Whitehouse, O'Riordan, Mustaki, McLaughlin, Agg, Nolan, Farrelly, Campbell, Finn, Noonan, Whelan.

Dora Zeller latches onto the ball and travels into the box before firing a strong strike towards goal.

However, it's straight at Shannon Turner, so proves an easy save for the Wolves stopper.

Northern Ireland are struggling to gain possession so far and Hungary look dangerous in the final third.

Republic of Ireland interim manager Eileen Gleeson has urged her players to capitalise on their strong start to the Women's Nations League.

The Republic defeated Northern Ireland 3-0 in their League B Group One opener before winning 4-0 in Hungary.

Albania have travelled to Dublin for Friday's first game of a double-header between the sides.

"We want to build on these performances and give the fans an exciting experience," Gleeson said.

After a historic first match at the Aviva Stadium against neighbours Northern Ireland, the Republic will return to their traditional home of Tallaght Stadium.

It will be their first match at the home of Shamrock Rovers since their final World Cup warm-up at home to France.

Tanya Oxtoby may only be relatively new to the Northern Ireland job but we have already seen she is not afraid to make a big decision.

Cliftonville winger Danielle Maxwell has been named to start after an impressive season for the Reds, and Caitlin McGuinness has got the nod to start up front.

With the likes of Simone Magill, Emily Wilson and Cargah Hamilton, there is plenty of attack firepower on the bench if it is required.

Both NI's players and Oxtoby haven't been shy in saying they want maximum points from this window - highlighting the confidence in the group.

Northern Ireland winger Caragh Hamilton says developing as a leader is the "next step of progression" for her as a footballer.

Hamilton, 27, joined Championship side Lewes in June and has captained a young squad in the absence of Rhian Cleverly.

She also hopes she can add to that leadership with Northern Ireland.

"That's a new challenge for me to take on and embrace," Hamilton said ahead of Northern Ireland's Nations League double-header with Hungary.

"It's something that mentors to me have spoken about over the past couple of months, that's it's the next step of progression for me.

"Obviously, trying to develop as a player technically but also develop as a person and that leadership role is something I am really trying to embrace.

"I think it's my role as one of the more senior players."
