Here comes a rare change of formation for Celtic as centre-back Nat Phillips takes over from winger Luis Palma.

Daizen Maeda just never stops running and now he's haring after a bouncing ball at the edge of the visitors' penalty area. Goalkeeper Jan Oblak takes no chances, beating the Celtic forward to a header.

Greg Taylor is booked for a late cruncher in the build up to a shot from Alvaro Morata that Joe Hart pushes away without too much fuss.

Celtic get forward for the first time since the interval but no one can keep up with Daizen Maeda and his cross is easily dealt with.

Bad news for Celtic at half-time. Javier Galan, Atletico's short-suffering left-back, has been left in the dressing room.

We were talking Pedro Porro at Hampden levels of nightmare first halves for the Spaniard on his first start of the season.

He was a big target for Daizen Maeda to run at in the first half. Not sure they will get as much joy out of Rodrigo Riquelme, but we'll soon find out.

If you go into retreat against Atletico, you're going to lose the game.

Morata is a bystander. Griezmann is drifting in and out. Koke isn't having any great influence. Celtic have neutralised Atletico, and I didn't think they would.

The concentration levels are of the highest order. This is a superb performance. I've been blown away.

If they keep it up, it'll be the single greatest result for the club in 11 years. It would be right up there in Celtic's recent history.

A standing ovation for the home side at the half-time whistle in what has been a performance of genuine quality.

And breathe.

Celtic Park is rocking after a tumultuous first half and the home side are well worth their lead.

Kyogo finished off a lovely pass from Matt O'Riley, just as he did against Lazio a few weeks back.

Antoine Griezmann pulled one back from the rebound of his own penalty, but Celtic didn't waste any time feeling sorry for themselves as Luis Palma crashed in a fantastic shot.
