With the added TV cameras and press here at St James Park tonight some of us reporters are sat alongside the away fans - and they're not overly pleased with what they have seen.

Boro have had all the possession but haven't really created any big chances until Sammy Silvera's shot in stoppage time as they have struggled to break down the Grecians.

And it's not just the Boro fans who are frustrated, manager Michael Carrick doesn't look too pleased either.

No goals so far with Port Vale having the better of the first half.

We've had the 45 minutes and we are now into first-half stoppage time. Exeter will be delighted to get in one goal up at the break, although in truth they haven't been massively troubled.

Mansfield are really struggling to get out of their own half but lucky for them Port Vale haven't got their shooting boots on as Uche Ikpeazu fires one well over.

Dael Fry come forward and tries another shot on goal but his low effort is blocked just outside the box. There hasn't really been much to worry Viljami Sinisalo in the Exeter goal.

The rain has stopped here which will be of relief for the fans as Ryan Trevitt picks up the game's first yellow card for a foul.

Will Swan chases a ball down the flank and sends a first-time ball into the box but Connor Ripley collects it.

Middlesbrough have had control of the game but it has not been relentless. Exeter have been very controlled with their defending, but haven't provided too much threat on the counter yet.

Vincent Harper is on for the injured Demetri Mitchell and he slots into the right wing-back position for the hosts.

Exeter are playing on with 10 men for now as Demetri Mitchell goes off.

This could be a blow for Exeter as Demetri Mitchell is forced off.

Mitchell, the former Manchester United winger, scored the winner in the last round but is limping off here.

He is one of Exeter's main attacking outlets, although he's played more as a right wing-back tonight

Fantastic save by Connor Ripley! Davis Keillor-Dunn connects perfectly with his strike and the ball looks destined to be hitting the back of the net but Ripley makes a superb save.

Important header by Aden Flint to deflect behind Alfie Devine's delivery. The corner causes a few problems for the home side before Christy Pym dives on the ball and smothers it.

Middlesbrough are looking more dangerous now as Isaiah Jones gets into a shooting position but his effort on goal is blocked.

Port Vale have had the better of this so far but there's shouts of handball as Aaron Lewis sends the ball into the box for Mansfield, but nothing is given.

Middlesbrough have not quite clicked in the final third. They've had a lot of the ball. You'd think with the quality they have they will get a clear opportunity sooner or later.
