Two attempts from the Clarets with half-time approaching at Goodison. Nothing to concern Jordan Pickford. Big team talk required from Vincent Kompany at half-time.

As a Man Utd fan since 1967, I've never seen a more inept bunch masquerading as MY team. They'll get thrashed tonight by 4-5 or more, and be candidates for relegation come next May. Things are not going to change for a long time.

Nothing to really report from the first 10 minutes here, barring the injury to Matt Targett.

Neither keeper has been drawn into serious action yet.

  11. Postpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

    Ipswich 0-1 Fulham

All those changes for Ipswich are telling here, with Town - who have won 16 of the last 17 here - struggling for cohesion.

Fulham are the better side and Andreas Pereira has gone close with an effort from the edge of the box that drifts just past the top corner.

  12. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

    Chelsea 1-0 Blackburn

Blackburn shout for a penalty as Callum Brittain's cross hits Conor Gallagher's arm but the referee says no. You've seen them given etc.

  13. 'Comfortable for Pickford'published at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

    Everton 1-0 Burnley

    Shamoon Hafez
    BBC Sport at Goodison Park

Burnley are yet to offer any threat in the final third.

Number one Jordan Pickford has had a comfortable night, he could have started Joao Virginia and the stand-in wouldn't have had much to do either.

At least he can keep himself warm on the bench.

  14. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

    Bournemouth 0-1 Liverpool

Despite the conditions, there have been eight attempts on target in this tie - four for each side.

Antoine Semenyo cuts inside and shoots low but Caoimhín Kelleher makes the save.

Matt Targett could barely walk as he was coming off the pitch then.

Clearly there was no chance of him continuing and the fear now must be that the former Aston Villa man is facing a long spell on the sidelines.

The additional issue for Eddie Howe is that instead of Miguel Almiron getting a bit of a break, he is now going to play virtually the entire game.

  16. Postpublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

    Bournemouth 0-1 Liverpool

Four goals in seven appearances now for Cody Gakpo and his second in the Carabao Cup this season.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

    Man Utd 0-0 Newcastle

It looks like Eddie Howe is opting to go for an early attacking move in response to that Matt Targett injury. Miguel Almiron comes on for the injured defender.

  18. 'Gordon can cause problems tonight'published at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

    Man Utd 0-0 Newcastle

    Clinton Morrison
Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

No recognised striker for Newcastle and I am disappointed, I would have liked to see Callum Wilson, but I get why he is not starting.

Anthony Gordon played centrally for England Under-21s when they won the Euros and he can cause problems tonight.

    Oh, this is really unfortunate.

Matt Targett has had so few opportunities to play but he looks to have pulled a hamstring inside two minutes.

He's not going to be able to carry on here.

  20. 'It's scrappy'published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

    West Ham 1-0 Arsenal

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Australia keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's gone a little bit scrappy now. Paqueta went down clutching his leg even though there was no contact.
