Even though Germany have started with a high tempo, there's a bit of panic from Wales at times.

This is just a different level.

Still the German pressure comes, but still Wales hang on grimly.

So far, Gemma Evans and the rest of the Welsh defence are repelling the German attacks but this is relentless.

With Hannah Cain and Kayleigh Green both coming into the side it was anyone's guess as to how Wales' front three would line up.

Cain remains most advanced for Wales but Ceri Holland and Kayleigh Green have already swapped wings after five minutes.

A planned swap? Or reflective of that early German chance being created down Wales' left-hand side?

This is what Germany do so well. They play from wide areas.

There'll be a lot of combination play between the winger and the midfielders to get the ball to the centre forward.

This time it's left-back Sarai Linder who goes close for Germany, cutting inside and shooting wide on her right foot.

Germany captain Svenja Huth plays a dangerous cross from the right into the penalty area, which Wales put behind for a corner.

That set-piece comes to nothing but Germany are swiftly on the attack again.

This could be a long night for Wales.

I'm sure a lot of preparation has gone into it, especially defensively.

A first chance for Germany and it falls to Laura Freigang.

She makes a darting run to the near post to meet a low cross from the right, but her first-time shot is wide.

We need to be realistic, the pool of players Germany have is a lot bigger than that of Wales.

The resources the German FA have put into their team is fantastic.

They've always treated the women's side as equals to the men's team, that's why they've been so successful.

As you'd expect, Germany are seeing a lot of the ball in these early exchanges.

Wales' players are spending most of the time in their own half, though their solid defensive line sees their opponents flagged for offside.

I'd estimate somewhere between 50-100.

It's a safe bet a lot of them are family members of the players.

Playing [stronger teams] and competing against them are two different things.

You do learn from playing these teams, but results are also important.

Against Denmark we were probably naïve in our system, they taught us a lesson.

Today, for me, Germany are so technical, they're much better than Wales in that aspect, so we'll see how Wales cope with that.

Cain returns for Wales

There is some good news for Wales on the fitness front with Hannah Cain back in the squad and starting this afternoon.

Cain missed the start of the Nations League in September through injury, just nine months after recovering from a serious knee problem that kept her out of action for over a year.

The 24-year-old forward has been telling Match of the Day Wales she is keen to make up for lost time by helping Wales qualify for a first major tournament.
