  1. Ten Hag needs answerspublished at 21:06 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Man Utd 1-1 Chelsea

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Manchester United have carved out huge numbers of changes in this first-half but wasted so many, including the penalty.

Now they are on level terms, Chelsea will fancy this and have already created enough opportunities themselves to be confident about getting a few more.

Erik ten Hag is stood on the touchline with his hands stuff into his coat pocket. He needs some answers.

As a Villa fan I have to pinch myself to check this performance is real.

    David, Birmingham

Villa could be 3-0 up if they stopped getting so excited. Every time they get in a semi-decent position they shoot instead of playing the smart ball or being patient. Great play but they need to not get over-excited.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Aston Villa 0-0 Manchester City

Very enjoyable at Villa Park. Manchester City are looking rattled, but Villa have failed to convert the chances.

At the other end, Erling Haaland twice almost scored, but was denied by super saves by Emiliano Martinez on both occasions. Both sides fancy the three points here, but it is goalless after 45.

Paul: Man City fan here and genuinely counting down the seconds till HT. The passing and movement has been so suspect and full credit to Villa. How we’re not at least 2 down is beyond me.

Colesy: That is United in a nutshell. Brilliant football at times, should be 3 or 4 ahead. Missed a penalty. Half time probably 1-1. Wonderful

Ariel: Everything about Cole Palmer from his hair style to the way he plays is a throwback. Reminds me of Le Tissier

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Bournemouth

Into the last 20 minutes at Selhurst Park. Odsonne Edouard has an effort blocked and Bournemouth, who have not had a shot since the 48th minute, continue to frustrate the hosts.

What a win this would be on the road for Bournemouth if they hang on.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Manchester City

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

The ball definitely looked out of play for me, but you've got to check it.

Remember it has to be the entirety of the ball out of play, and I think it might just have been out.

  18. 'City look rattled, Villa fans absolutely loving it'published at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Aston Villa 0-0 Manchester City

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Listen to the noise in the background!

The players City want to get on the ball are being closed down so quickly, the likes of Bernardo Silva are not being given any time to breathe at all.

City look rattled at the minute, can't settle on the ball at all.

The home fans are absolutely loving it.

  19. McTominay the unsung Man Utd heropublished at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2023

    Man Utd 1-0 Chelsea

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Scott McTominay's goalscoring feats for Scotland are very much the stuff of legend.

But the midfielder is an unsung hero at Manchester United.

McTominay gives energy in the middle of the pack that the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are not capable of.

He scores goals - as he has done tonight - and he is also tough. I suspect quite a few players would have gone off with that injury.

    McTominay is pushing on.
