    Tottenham have confirmed , externalHugo Lloris will depart on a permanent transfer and join MLS side Los Angeles FC in the January transfer window.

    Lloris captained Spurs for nine of the 11 years he spent at the club and is seventh on their all-time appearance list with 447 in all competitions.

    The 37-year-old led the team out in the 2019 Champions League final and has a club-high 361 Premier League appearances.

    At international level he captained France to the 2018 World Cup, retiring after playing in the 2022 World Cup final.

    In a video posted on social media he said: "To the Spurs fans, thank you for the support from day one. It's been a great privilege to be one of you, one of your captains as well for many years.

    "It's the end of the chapter but you will be always in my heart. Spurs will always be a special place for me and my family. Thank you for all the memories we had together, all the emotions we went through, and I just want to wish you the best for the next decade because you deserve the best."

    Lloris will be honoured at half-time during Sunday’s match against Bournemouth at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
