    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

    Best chance yet!

Jeremy Sarmiento looks like a shapeshifter at times, moving like liquid for West Brom as he edges toward the box. Wins a corner. Hard to keep tabs on.

Sunderland recover. Jack Clarke wins it, finds a yard and is to launch a counter before Jayson Molumby cynically brings him down to halt the flow and earn a yellow.

Patrick Roberts is set away down the right and then reverse passes into space for Adil Aouchiche for Sunderland.

Jack Clarke slings in an inswinger to the backpost which looked like it was targeted for Patrick Roberts, but Jobe Bellingham gets a touch which just adds a bit of pace and it goes out.

    Sunderland denied.

  10. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

West Brom attack down the left with Jeremy Sarmiento, who is like a little will-o'the wisp.

    Sunderland snuff it out.

The home fans find their voice. "RED AND WHITE ARMY!" is roared from the stands.

Neither side wants to overcommit right now.

  11. SECOND HALFpublished at 46 mins

Fresh from Republica's 'Ready To Go' razing through the speakers, we're ready for the second-half on Wearside.

    Blackburn 0-1 Leeds

    Kevin Gallacher
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio Lancashire

The ball clearly hits his hand, the referee has seen it as he's pointed 'ball to hand'.

Was an advantage given to Blackburn?

Blackburn shout for a penalty but referee Bobby Madley says nothing doing.

  14. SECOND HALFpublished at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Blackburn 0-1 Leeds

We're back under way at Ewood Park.

Blackburn make a change. Harry Leonard comes off as Arnor Sigurdsson takes his place.

    Leeds are unchanged.

  15. Sunderland style 'hasn't changed'published at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    HT: Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

    Gary Bennett
Ex-Sunderland defender on BBC Radio Newcastle

We ask the reasons why Tony Mowbray was sacked, and we know the reason, it's because they don't have a goalscorer.

Yes, Sunderland had a disallowed goal, but overall, the pattern of play hasn't changed.

The new manager needs to get the forwards up and running and get them more goals.

  16. 'Leeds should be a couple ahead'published at 13:26 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    HT: Blackburn 0-1 Leeds

    Jon Newsome
Ex-Leeds defender on BBC Radio Leeds

Blackburn have created one or two half chances, but Leeds should be a couple of goals ahead.

Dan James has been outstanding, a player brimming with confidence, you could see that with the strike.

Sunderland's post-Tony Mowbray era begins with a half which saw many of his principles delivered in a fashion to make him proud.

The only goal was ruled out, Jobe Bellingham deemed to be off when he tucked in after Alex Palmer spilled Patrick Roberts' shot.

West Brom were on the backfoot for spells, but did show some threat through Grady Diangana and Jeremy Sarmiento.

Josh Maja's injury is a blow given his battle with knocks and niggles, but Tom Fellows is on and has youthful promise.

  18. Postpublished at 45+5 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

I love to watch Jack Clarke, the Sunderland wide-man.

He reminds me of the old Scotland and Forest winger John Robertson.

Not turbo-quick, just evasive, skilful, tricky. Rapid enough.

Has that shuffling style which just lures defenders in. West Brom have done well so far with him.

Sunderland zip the ball right to Patrick Roberts, who jinks his way to the edge of the box before squaring to Dan Neil, but his curling effort to the back post sears high and wide.
