    Leicester 0-0 Leeds

After weathering an early Leeds storm the home side start to get into their groove and a chipped ball to the back post nearly finds Stephy Mavididi but Dan James gets there first to head out for a corner, which comes to nothing.

Sheppey 1-0 Walsall; Barnsley 1-1 Horsham

Well, how's this for a story in the FA Cup?

Eighth-tier Sheppey United have taken the lead against League Two Walsall midway through the first half.

Seventh-tier Horsham have also grabbed an equaliser at League One Barnsley. Love it.

    Leicester 0-0 Leeds

Leeds boss Daniel Farke said in a pre-match interview that he would not set his team out just to hope for a draw and that is showing in these first five minutes.

His charges have certainly not looked like they have hanging on for a point on their minds.

They're dominating the ball and swarming over Leicester when they lose it.

    Leicester 0-0 Leeds

    That's a big chance!

Leeds press up high and win the ball back 30 yards out.

It's shifted into forward Joel Piroe on the edge of the area and he makes a yard for a shot but hammers it into the crowd.

    Leeds on top early on.

  7. Maresca grounded despite superb startpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2023

Enzo Maresca could not have dreamed that his start to life in club management in England would go this smoothly.

His side start the night 14 points clear of their third-placed visitors and their promotion back to the Premier League is already looking like a formality.

Despite their fantastic start he emphasised that, while they should enjoy their successes, his team have "not achieved anything yet" when he spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast earlier this week.

"I think nobody's expected it, especially in terms of results," he said.

"It's something unbelievable that the players are doing, unbelievable job. But, as I said many times we are still in October, we still have a long run.

"From the outside it can look like Leicester winning every game is normal but I always same the same - in football we lose more than we win. We need to celebrate.

"It doesn't mean that we've achieved something because we haven't done anything at the moment but we need to enjoy the moment."

  9. We're going through changespublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2023

    Leicester v Leeds (20:00 GMT)

It's just over six months since these two teams met in the Premier League at Elland Road.

Jamie Vardy levelled for the Foxes after Luis Sinisterra (pictured above) had given the Whites the lead in a game that ultimately did very little to help either side avoid relegation to the Championship.

What's changed since then? Well, just about everything other than the grounds the two teams play at.

Both teams have changed manager (in Leeds' case twice), and, from the 22 players who started that match, just two (Leicester defender Wout Faes and Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier) are also in from the start tonight.

Oddly, there are two players in the starting line ups who played the last time these pair met in the Championship in January 2014.

Sam Byram was in defence for Leeds that day and Jamie Vardy was up front for the Foxes in their 1-0 win at Elland Road.

  10. Farke praises 'remarkable' Foxespublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2023

    Leicester v Leeds (20:00 GMT)

Leeds boss Daniel Farke is in a pretty good place to comment on teams leading the way in the Championship.

The German steered Norwich City to two second tier titles in his time in charge of the Canaries.

He was full of praise for the job that Enzo Maresca has done with the Foxes since taking over in the summer.

"Leicester's points tally is remarkable and you just have to give them credit. They have many top players at Premier League level, stability in the club, and a quality coach," Farke said.

"We are full of respect and we know we will have to be at our best, but we will not travel in fear."

Asked if the game was "must-win" for his side he said "if it was the 45th game of the season it might be, but not the 15th" and that "whatever happens, both clubs have everything in their own hands".

Tinfoil at the ready, the FA Cup first round weekend starts this evening with two non-league teams looking to cause major upsets.

Isthmian League Premier Division side Horsham visit League One play-off hopefuls Barnsley, while Sheppey United, who are a league below Horsham in the Isthmian League South-East Division, host League Two Walsall.

Seventeen-year-old Archie Gray has featured in 15 of Leeds' 16 matches so far this season and returns to the starting XI tonight

Leicester boss Enzo Maresca makes two changes to the Leicester team that started the 2-1 win at lowly QPR last week. Ricardo Pereira and Wout Faes are in for Hamza Choudhury and Conor Coady.

Leeds make just the one change for the XI that started the 4-1 dismantling of West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield. Teenager Archie Gray comes in for Jamie Shackleton at right-back

Leicester XI: Hermansen, Ricardo, Faes, Vestergaard, Justin, Casadei, Winks, Dewsbury-Hall, Fatawu, Vardy, Mavididi.

Subs: Coady, Albrighton, Iheanacho, Souttar, Choudhury, Daka, McAteer, Marcal, Stolarczyk

Leeds XI: Meslier, Gray, Struijk, Rodon, Byram, Ampadu, Kamara, James, Summerville, Piroe, Georginio

Subs: Darlow, Ayling, Cooper, Firpo, Gruev, Anthony, Poveda, Bamford, Gnonto.

  13. Record-breaking Foxes target more historypublished at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2023

    Leicester v Leeds (20:00 GMT)

    Image caption,

If you'd won 13 of your first 14 league games in a season you'd probably be feeling as happy as Leicester striker Kelechi Iheanacho was when he arrived at the ground this evening

What better place to start the EFL weekend than first v third?

Leicester City have made a frankly ridiculous start to the season as they look to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Foxes have won 13 of their first 14 league matches, a record for the Championship, and another success tonight would see them set a new club record for successive victories with 10 on the bounce.

Standing in their way are a Leeds side who dropped out of the top flight alongside them back in May.

Under normal circumstances you would say the Whites had made a pretty good start to the season, as they sit in third with 25 points from 14 games.

Can they put an end to Leicester's superb run and maybe breathe new life into the automatic promotion race?
