Corberan has got this right, they have dominated, they're knocking the ball about.

They have to hope these changes work. I would like to see Molumby sit centrally more, win that midfield battle.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 71 mins

    West Brom 2-0 Ipswich

This one was billed as a big match in the promotion race.

As good as Ipswich have been in the past few months you have to say West Brom have done a real job on them here. Carlos Corberan has got it spot-on.

They are getting players back to fitness and clicking into gear at a useful time.

Case in point: fit-again John Swift and Jeremy Sarmiento, plus Jayson Molumby, are coming on to try and further Albion's advantage.

Matt Phillips, Okay Yokuslu and goalscorer Grady Diangana are off to get a recovery drink.

    West Brom 2-0 Ipswich

Matt Phillips can now run down the left at Brandon Williams, on a caution, at will, knowing one mis-step and he'll be off for an early bath.

He uses this knowledge to run down the left at Brandon Williams at will, and wins a corner.

They say 2-0 is a dangerous lead. This feels far from it.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 60 mins

    West Brom 2-0 Ipswich

Ipswich's Brandon Williams nearly sent Conor Townsend into the land of wind and ghosts there, barging into him at full-pelt on the touchline, and collects a thoroughly deserved yellow.

  7. Postpublished at 56 mins

    West Brom 2-0 Ipswich

Ipswich finally try to build something down the left and drag the full-back inside to give Leif Davis space, unfortunately for them his swirling cross is too close to Alex Palmer who plucks it out of the air with ease.

A frustrating night for Davis, who knows Carlos Corberan only too well from his Leeds Under-21 days.

Phillips won't sleep tonight, he will be going over and over that miss in his head. I don't know how he has missed that.

He has to get that out of his system for the remainder of the second half.

  9. Miss of the season?published at 52 mins

    West Brom 2-0 Ipswich

Matt Phillips has his head in his hands. He has missed an open goal from two yards out. A horrible one for him to watch back.

Jed Wallace put it on a plate for him, sliding across the Ipswich goal from the right with Vaclav Hladky on the deck but Phillips goes with the outside of his right foot and somehow blasts the ball away from danger and back from the direction it came from.

It should be 3-0. Ipswich should be dead and buried. Can they make Phillips pay?

The finish is absolutely superb from Diangana, he didn't panic one-on-one and fired it into the bottom corner.

Great start to the second half, just like the first. They broke from the edge of their own box, unbelievable.

Corberan would have dreamt of a start like that during half-time.

GOAL: West Brom 2-0 Ipswichpublished at 47 mins

    Grady Diangana

    What a devastating counter-attack.

Sam Morsy has a shot charged down on the edge of the Albion box, Conor Townsend doesn't lump it clear, he threads Jed Wallace through in midfield to drive forward then square to Brandon Thomas-Asante who plays in Grady Diangana to fire in off the inside of the post.

As incisive a goal as you'll see.

Ipswich have come from 2-0 down before this season, but it wasn't against West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Plymouth Argyle's talented young attacking players put themselves on display in impressive fashion in the win over high-fliers Sunderland, says manager Steven Schumacher.

Morgan Whittaker and Finn Azaz grabbed a goal apiece as Argyle overcame the Black Cats, who made an 800-mile round trip in defeat.

"I think it was a really good game - a lot of talent on the pitch, some incredibly gifted young players, and thankfully two of ours have produced the two moments of quality that have won the game," Schumacher told BBC Radio Devon.

"Sunderland were in the top six coming into this game, brilliant form, and they showed how good a side they are.

"They put us under loads of pressure, especially early in the game, and then pretty much throughout the whole of the second half.

"We deserve a load of credit for keeping the door shut and managing to keep a clean sheet against one of the top scorers in the division, so it's a brilliant three points."

Liam Manning's first win as Bristol City boss was achieved in dramatic fashion after a thriller at Ashton Gate against in-form Middlesbrough.

The Robins led 2-0 through Taylor Gardner-Hickman's spectacular goal and a Tommy Conway penalty, but Zak Vyner's own goal and Matt Crooks' effort levelled.

Mark Sykes was the second-half hero as Bristol City finally ran out winners.

"It's been a roller coaster," Manning told BBC Radio Bristol. "It was a terrific afternoon for the players.

"We spoke to the lads at half-time about being prepared for Middlesbrough to come out and tweak how they press, be a bit more front-footed and aggressive.

"It sums up the lads, what we need this club, the togetherness we showed in the second-half and resilience."

  15. A 'brilliant performance and result'published at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Stoke 0-3 Blackburn

Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson was pleased with his side's performance as they comfortably beat Stoke.

That victory came after Rovers had been beaten by Preston in their Lancashire derby before the international break and Championship top scorer Sammie Szmodics got on the scoresheet and registered his 11th goal of the campaign.

"It was a brilliant performance and a brilliant result. We knew up front Stoke have been playing really well and have not conceded for the last four games.

"So it was tough, but we started the game really positively and created a chance after two minutes for Sammie - it could have been 2-0 after four minutes.

"It's about taking our chances. If you look at all of our performances this season, we could have won every game. We are probably the team in this league that creates the most chances."

Leicester goal hero Jamie Vardy has earned the praise of boss Enzo Maresca after he came on to earn a precious win for the Championship high-fliers against dogged Watford.

Vardy tapped in and then scored a penalty to ensure the Foxes put back-to-back defeats behind them.

"Jamie Vardy will always score goals," Maresca told BBC Radio Leicester.

"He will continue to do so. The work he did off the ball as well was incredible."

Maresca was also happy to see his players show determination to get the three points, especially given the losses to Leeds and Middlesbrough.

"Sometimes you have to lose a game to understand how good it is to win," he added.

"We needed that. We lost and lost and realised how good it was. So we win again."

Birmingham City boss Wayne Rooney is finally off the mark at St Andrew's with his first win in charge, against bottom side Sheffield Wednesday, but he was not happy with the level of performance in places.

Blues were pegged back just before half-time after George Byers cancelled out Juninho Bacuna's strike, but Jordan James won it for the hosts.

"Obviously delighted to get three points, no games in this league are easy," Rooney told BBC Radio WM.

"First half we weren't good enough, but second half we lifted that.

"I wasn't happy at half-time, we're a lot better than that. I wanted more energy.

"I was delighted with the second goal, not just the finish but the build-up."

Darnell Furlong's gorgeous, clever, guided glancing header from Matt Phillips' whipped corner on five minutes is the difference at the break.
