  1. Mansfield try to build new runpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

    Mansfield v Tranmere (19:45 GMT)

Mansfield's incredible 17-match unbeaten start to the season came to an end on Saturday when they were finally beaten, 2-1 at Swindon.

Before Jake Young's 93rd minute winner they had reeled off five wins on the spin and they sit nicely, third in the table.

They are strong favourites to earn a first victory of what they hope will become a new run of form against Tranmere at Field Mill tonight.

Tranmere are just two points and a place above the bottom two and have a truly miserable away record so far this season.

The Merseysiders have taken just one point from nine games on the road - the joint-worst record in England's top-five leagues.

  2. Play-off re-run at Stockportpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

    Stockport v Salford (19:45 GMT)

Stockport begin the night five points clear at the top of League Two.

But their remarkable 12-match winning run was ended on Saturday at Newport.

    Tonight they face a re-run of last season's play-off semi-final against Salford.

But at the moment, Salford are showing no signs of a return to the top seven.

They're down in 17th place after a third-straight defeat on Saturday.

With four of the top five sides playing each other tonight, Derby County's trip to Port Vale feels like a key game for the Rams to try and make up ground.

They six sixth, eight points off leaders Bolton and six off second-placed Portsmouth.

It will also be interesting to see if Exeter can bounce back from a crushing 7-0 loss at Bolton last weekend.

They have eight defeats and one draw from their last nine league games, but tonight host a Shrewsbury side, who have taken four points from a possible 27 on the road.

At the bottom, Reading are searching for back-to-back wins for the first time since August as they welcome 22nd-placed Carlisle to the Madejski Stadium, with the Royals currently sitting seven points from safety.

  5. Contrasting approach, similar outcomepublished at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

Rail enthusiasts amongst you will link Stevenage and Peterborough as the first two stops on trains heading up to Newcastle and Edinburgh on the East Coast main line.

One stop apart and only one place apart in the League One table, with Stevenage sitting pretty in fourth and Posh one below them.

Steve Evans' Boro may not win many awards for the purity of their football, but they are making themselves heard since promotion, unbeaten in six and with four straight wins.

Darren Ferguson's side have resumed their third tier persona as one of the teams to watch. It is four wins in five for them with 15 goals scored.

Peterborough will expect to be in the top six around the end of the season, but can they go even higher? Overcoming the challenge that Evans' team will undoubtedly pose should give us a good idea.

  6. Pompey looking for swift recovery from Seasiders' losspublished at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

    Burton v Portsmouth (19:45 GMT)

Portsmouth's long unbeaten run in League One went for a burton on Saturday as they were thrashed 4-0 by Blackpool at Fratton Park.

It had been 27 without defeat before then, but that went along with their two-months spell at the top of the table.

But there is little time to mope for John Mousinho's men. It's on with the job as they head to the Pirelli Stadium to face Burton.

The home side have taken one point from their last four games as they lie in 17th, but taking a scalp like Pompey would be a great way to arrest their mini slump.

  7. 'Hard work' starts for leaders with Oxford testpublished at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

    Oxford v Bolton (19:45 GMT)

Third tier matches don't come much better than this as third plays first at the Kassam Stadium.

Oxford lost their spot in the top two after a surprise loss at lowly Cheltenham in Des Buckingham's first game as head coach.

But the Us have an immediate chance of redemption, albeit a very difficult one.

Leaders Bolton are flying high in the league and in form - six straight wins, 18 scored and only three conceded. It is a promotion-like streak, but manager Ian Evatt was keen to stress the hard work was only just starting after their 7-0 win over Exeter on Saturday.

A seventh win on the spin, in these circumstances, would indeed be a magnificent one.
