It has been a busy day of news conferences ahead of the Premier League and Women's Super League action this weekend.

All of which you can follow across our live pages.

  2. 'I'm so grateful for the opportunities'published at 16:15 GMT 10 November 2023

    Chelsea

Asked if the USA job would be incredible, Emma Hayes added: "Picking someone up from school would be incredible, taking him to after-school club or doing some other bits – just having that flexibility. I've lived far away for a long, long time. I don't get home until quite late, six days a week. I just need to take stock and for that reason is why I’m in the position I am."

On the role: "I won’t comment on that. I am contracted to Chelsea until the end of the season and that’s where my focus lies right now."

On her impact, she added: "I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've been given. I know my personality and I'm not afraid to do the tough things even though sometimes I'm the one who takes the battering from it. I'm alright with that because if I see schools of girls up and down the country… whether that's getting more prize money or to get better facilities – I still think there's ways to go – but I've played my part. I accept that role and I'm grateful for all those people who have done the same."

  3. 'Chelsea will always be my club'published at 16:07 GMT 10 November 2023

    Chelsea

Emma Hayes on reports new contract negotiations weren't being prioritised by the club: "I think it's fair to say, you've all worked with me for many years, that I believe in private conversations. Of course I'm disappointed to hear things are being said in the press.

"I want to make sure I maintain my own professionalism in everything I do. I have a team to focus on, games to win and I don't think anything will come between me and the players, and me and the fans.

"I understand Chelsea. This is my club and it will always be my club. While I'm sad on many, many levels, I have said to the fans there will be a moment where I'm sat with them in the crowd. I look forward to that come the end of the season.

"For now, the focus is, as always, on the game. We had an unbelievable training session today. It was really, really top level from everyone. The players have committed with me to make sure we ensure our position."

  4. 'I will work with the club in the succession plan'published at 15:58 GMT 10 November 2023

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes says she wants a "succession plan" in place for her departure from the club after 12 years.

The 47-year-old has won the Women's Super League six times since taking over Chelsea in 2012.

"I’ve been in the post for 12 years and I’ve dedicated my life to this place. I drive four hours to and from this place 6 days a week… for 12 years," Hayes said.

"I have a five-year-old that needs more of his mummy, for sure. That’s important. Family matters. I think I’ve dedicated as much as I possibly can to this football club.

"I’ve loved every minute of it. I think it’s really important that if possible, we can create a succession plan for me, much like Paul Green and I do for the players.

"The time is right. I will work with the club in the succession plan and do everything I can to make sure there is as good as transition as possible so my successor can have the same level of success as I can."

"It's important that we really take the time to evaluate what the best fit will be. It's not about like-for-like replacements. That's usually the wrong thing to do. It's about identifying what the needs are for the players and the club. Collectively, we will do that together."

  5. Postpublished at 15:52 GMT 10 November 2023

And onto some more women's football as Chelsea boss Emma Hayes has been speaking to the media for the first time since announcing she will leave at the end of the season.

The 47-year-old has been at Chelsea since 2012.

    Stay tuned for some quotes.

  6. 'Support of players kept me going'published at 15:48 GMT 10 November 2023

WSL: Bristol City v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport reporter

Aston Villa manager Carla Ward said she enjoyed Wednesday's cup win over Sheffield United, which ended a run of five straight Women's Super League defeats.

Asked if she has support from players in the dressing room, the Villa boss said she did and it was helping to "keep her going".

"It’s important because I care a lot about people and the project," added Ward.

"I asked outright to some of the leadership group: 'Have I got the support of the dressing room?' And the answer was yes.

"I’ll give every ounce of everything I've got. The one thing I pride myself on is treating the players right. In the moments where it does become tough, it's very easy to point the finger at the manager.

"One thing about building relationships with players is that they have your back as much as you have theirs.

"Getting some of the messages from the players after the [6-0 Chelsea defeat] was something that absolutely kept me going."

On current form: "We all know it should be better in some moments, some details are going against us. We have to score more goals and the goals have to come from all the team.

"Villa haven't lost any points [at home], we want to be the first ones to do it."

  8. Carlos set to miss out for Villapublished at 15:39 GMT 10 November 2023

Aston Villa v Fulham (Sun 14:00 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery expects to be without defender Diego Carlos for Sunday's match against Fulham.

The Brazilian is suffering from a "small" injury picked up against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

Jacob Ramsey is not yet ready to return from an ankle injury but Alex Moreno is set to be available.

“Diego Carlos, I don’t know exactly, he's not going to be available for Sunday. Maybe it’s a small injury, maybe, but it’ll be difficult to be available for Sunday," said Emery.

“Jacob Ramsey is progressing very well, he’s close to being with us in training sessions every day. But not yet.

“And Alex Moreno is progressing very good, he’s available to be in the squad and he’s available to be ready to play Sunday.

“Other players, they are available and ready to play.”

Wolves v Tottenham (Sat, 12:30 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil on discussions with referee chief Howard Webb: "I had a good honest conversation with Howard where we feel things are and our opinions on it. There is an understanding on my part that Howard is responsible for trying to shift the standard and make things better. He's working really hard to do that.

"They recognise last week's decision [on the penalty] was incorrect so hopefully they can recognise the next one before Tuesday's reviews and recognise in live situations. We are where we are and we've had a few go against us. We need to be better and my only focus is making us better."

Brighton v Sheff Utd (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on summer signing Kai Havertz: "I can tell you that I am really pleased with the way he is performing. Looking at just the specific numbers of what he is producing in front of goal does have to improve and we have to improve them but in many other areas of the pitch what he gives to the pitch at the moment is really important."

On strengthening his squad depth in January, Arteta added: "Some of the injuries that we had, they are some bad luck, some of them have been long-term injuries with some special players and when we didn’t have a lot of depth. We can talk about the depth, but after you have to talk about the specific positions or certain units where we are a little bit shorter."

He was a leader. He was someone very intelligent who could navigate different scenarios very well, the dressing rooms and above.

"He understood the game, spoke several languages and you could tell straight away that he was going to be a top coach. Obviously he’s had a very strong career already, especially with the way he’s done it.

"In this Premier League we all have difficulty, we all have good moments. I’m really happy to see him doing what he’s doing."

“Chieo was feeling a few bits, a kick on his foot and a tight hamstring," said Edwards. “We’ve monitored his load this week to try to look after him.

“He’s been in the wars, as a few of them have, but he trained today.”

Midfielder Jordan Clark has had a full week of training after returning to Luton's bench last weekend but forward Cauley Woodrow has been ruled out after picking up a calf knock in training.

Dan Potts, Mads Andersen, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Reece Burke, Luke Berry and Amari’i Bell all remain out.

  19. 'Bring the noise but do it with respect' - Edwards apologises for Hillsborough tauntspublished at 14:47 GMT 10 November 2023

Man Utd v Luton (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Luton Town

Luton boss Rob Edwards has personally apologised after tragedy chants were aimed at visiting Liverpool fans during his side's 1-1 draw at home to the Reds last Sunday.

An investigation is under way with the Football Association asking Luton and Bedfordshire Police for their observations after some spectators indirectly referenced the Hillsborough disaster of April 1989 - which resulted in 97 people losing their lives.

Speaking at his news conference moments ago, Edwards said: "A statement has gone out from the football club and I want to apologise as well.

"We don't condone that, of course, and there's an investigation going on at the moment.

"In terms of a message to our supporters, go out tomorrow, we want them to bring the noise - but let's be good and be respectful.

"Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and Sir Bobby Charlton's funeral is on Monday as well, so we go to Old Trafford at an important time. Bring the noise but do it with respect."

  20. 'Mount now has to find his place back'published at 14:40 GMT 10 November 2023

Man Utd v Luton (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag on if expectations of summer signing Mason Mount have changed: "Not at all. He started the season and got injured. It is the worst moment for a new player to get injured because it stops the integration process and that was a step back for us all. He now has to find his place back.

"He has had some starts recently, last week against Newcastle, for instance. There are always reasons. The injury and other players coming in and doing well, and then you have to wait for your time to play."

On if nine defeats so far this season is acceptable: "It is about the end result. We have to win every game, so we are very disappointed about losing any game. But it is about the end result, a process, thinking about the process and then it is about managing the process. That's all I focus on."
