  1. 'This is an absolute must-win game for Man Utd'published at 14:38 GMT 10 November 2023

Man Utd v Luton (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton predictions graphic

Manchester United played really well for the first 40 minutes or so against FC Copenhagen on Wednesday, until Marcus Rashford was sent off.

They were brave on the ball, and used it really well. That didn't last, though.

On the run they are on, this is a nightmare game for them, because Luton showed how resilient and awkward they are in their draw against Liverpool last week.

And, as we head into an international break, this is an absolute must-win game for United manager Erik ten Hag. A draw isn't enough for him.

I don't think he will get sacked if that happens, but it will just continue the conversation about his future and add to the pressure on his shoulders.

Bearing all that in mind, I think United will do just about enough to win it, much like they did at Fulham last weekend - but it won't be easy for them. Sutton's prediction: 2-1.

  2. 'Rashford has high expectations for himself'published at 14:36 GMT 10 November 2023

Man Utd v Luton (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Now here's Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag on the form of striker Marcus Rashford: "I think he is not happy. We are not happy. He has high expectations for himself and in this moment he is not in his best form.

"I know he will be back and when the team is playing better, he will play better and score goals. I am confident in that. He will improve and score goals this season. He is totally aware of everything, so he will be back on track.

"It can happen very quickly. Sometimes you only need one game and I am sure we will get there."

  3. 'Liverpool really have to win this to keep up with Man City'published at 14:34 GMT 10 November 2023

Liverpool v Brentford (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton predictions graphic

This isn't an easy one to call. I was wrong about Liverpool against Luton last time out, but Brentford's return to form is the main reason I don't think this one will just be a straightforward home win.

After a bit of a blip, the Bees are back to being the stubborn side we know they are, and they carry a threat too.

But Liverpool really have to win this game to keep up with Manchester City in the title race - I don't want City to just run away with the title - and their home form has been very strong so far. Sutton's prediction: 3-1.

  4. 'Endo will definitely start games in the Premier League'published at 14:32 GMT 10 November 2023

Liverpool v Brentford (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on how midfielder Wataru Endo has adapted: "Very good. Wataru was all the time very important for us. It's another part of football that you line up 11 and they do well, you think the others don't do well. It's not true.

"Wataru makes steps every day. We had stories like this in the past. Andy Robertson did not play for half a year. Nobody can remember it anymore but it was like that. Other players had their struggles in the beginning, it's all fine.

"He did not struggle, it’s just we play pretty good and he is super important for us. He played a lot of games and if he plays all the games people say ‘ah but he’s not starting in the Premier League'.

"It's a little bit rhythm, but he will definitely start games in the Premier League, 100%. Now it’s just important we get through this period until the international break and after with as little injuries as possible because the games are coming thick and fast.

"It's crazy how many we have to play and we need them all, you will see them all. We are together for a while, we are much better used to each other than we were. Things are going in the right direction. We are not there yet, we are not as stable as I wish but that’s normal as well. All fine."

  5. Alexander-Arnold in midfield 'depends on the situation'published at 14:27 GMT 10 November 2023

Liverpool v Brentford (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

    Trent Alexander-ArnoldImage source, Getty Images

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on Trent Alexander-Arnold as a midfield option: "Yeah, a possibility. It depends on the situation, the opponent, a lot of things. We know he can play there. If we put him there we lose one of the best right-backs in the world. We should not forget that completely."

On why there was a lack of counter pressing against Luton: "It just shows the last percent of conviction on that night was not there. I don’t know why it wasn’t there.

"That’s very important for the way we want to play. When you watch it back there was one team who should have won the game and that’s us.

"We didn’t use our chances and you cannot win a game when we concede a goal and have to score at least one to get a point. That’s exactly what happened. But there's no bigger story."

On converting chances against Luton: "When you create a lot but don’t finish it it’s nothing with attitude, it’s just it happens. Whether it’s an inch or a foot or a head, that’s the only difference between scoring and not scoring. When we play the other [lower teams] we will try again. If we play better there is a chance we will score."

  6. 'It's super challenging to play against Brentford'published at 14:24 GMT 10 November 2023

Liverpool v Brentford (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on defeat by Brentford last season: "It’s super challenging to play Thomas Frank and Brentford for different reasons. I’m not sure they are 100% happy with this season but for sure losing Ivan Toney is brutal.

They are stable in the table which is probably what Brentford want. Well organised, had a few problems this season to get used to the game without Ivan but when you look at the table they are in the middle with a tendency to go up.

"Sensational set pieces, really offensive players, really fast, counter-attacking really good. It’s always interesting to play them and difficult as well but it’s Anfield and we should use that.

Asked if Thomas Frank reminds him of his time at Mainz, Klopp replied: "I'm not sure Brentford are still in that bracket. They are too smart, they are doing too well, very smart transfer business.

"Thomas is adapting, it’s really interesting. He is doing a brilliant job and he seems to be very happy there. He’s a cool guy, I respect him a lot."

  7. 'There are more important things than football'published at 14:22 GMT 10 November 2023

Liverpool v Brentford (Sun, 14:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on dealing with the Luis Diaz situation: "It's difficult in a different way. I always know there are more important things than football, I don't forget that. Never had a situation like that.

"This group was very together before that happened, but in the moment it's good that everyone is really caring.

"The first game was super difficult to play without him and didn't feel right to play football at all in this moment but we had to do it and the boys found a way.

"For footballers and people in general, the team you are in is the safe place and should be the safe place. We are here when he is here."

  8. It's another opportunity for us to grow - Postecogloupublished at 14:20 GMT 10 November 2023

Wolves v Tottenham (Sat, 12:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Boss Ange Postecoglou on Tottenham bouncing back from their first league defeat of the season against Chelsea on Monday: “It’s another opportunity for us to grow as a group, as a football club and as a team.”

  9. We can't afford any more injuries - Postecogloupublished at 14:17 GMT 10 November 2023

Wolves v Tottenham (Sat, 12:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Moving back to Tottenham now, and boss Ange Postecoglou had this to say on players coming in to replace those now ruled out through injury: "We'll have to make some changes but the guys who’ll come in have been training hard, they understand how we want to play and they will give everything they can to try to make us successful.

"I know people say it's an advantage that we're not currently in Europe or the [League] Cup, but if we were, some of these guys would have had game time. They'll come in and they haven't had a lot.

"That's the tricky part for us because we can't afford any more injuries. We've got to be careful about the sort of game time we give people."

  10. Southgate's 'watching' Lewis & Palmerpublished at 14:10 GMT 10 November 2023

    England

Speaking to BBC’s football correspondent John Murray on Thursday, England manager Gareth Southgate said this on Rico Lewis: “I think he is developing really well, he is very comfortable with the ball, but he plays in a very specific role for Manchester City.

"[They are] sort of playing him as a high eight and he fits into their system brilliantly. I think internationally, at the moment, his development at this moment in time is best served with the under-21s, but without doubt we are watching him, plus the likes of Cole Palmer and [Newcastle defender] Tino Livramento in particular."

  11. Guardiola 'really pleased' with Lewis progresspublished at 14:06 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Boss Pep Guardiola on Manchester City's versatile academy product Rico Lewis, who was again named in the England Under-21 squad earlier: "He is an exceptional player. He's been playing at a high level since he arrived [in the first team], defensively and offensively.

"Yes, we are really pleased [with him]. An academy player can be a regular player and he already plays in many moments. We're really pleased."

  12. 'Chelsea will no doubt be fighting for titles again'published at 14:02 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Chelsea: "They are aggressive and have good patterns. They are not close to winning the Premier League [at the moment] but it’s [still] one of the strongest teams and one of the toughest games we have during the season.

"They showed in the last game they are alive, have spirit and are aggressive. [We will] try to maintain the level of our game but sooner or later Chelsea will be there fighting for titles [again], no doubt about that."

  13. De Bruyne's 'feeling good' but not yet back in trainingpublished at 13:58 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Kevin de Bruyne's injury: "I spoke with him and he said he feels really good. He's not training with us and I don’t know [when he will return].

"With this kind of injury it’s better we don’t put pressure on. Kevin was a bad injury with surgeries so it’s step by step."

  14. Guardiola 'really pleased' for Palmerpublished at 13:53 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on winger Cole Palmer, who joined Chelsea in the summer: "I'm really pleased for him. The reason he left is to get more game time, and he has it, so good for him.

"He came from our academy; now he’s having success and we wish him the best. Congratulations to Chelsea and to him."

  15. Nkunku edging closer to Blues returnpublished at 13:51 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

    Christopher NkunkuImage source, Getty Images

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino on Christopher Nkunku's return: "We had a conversation and he said to me 'I want to be ready for after the international break'.

"I said to him yesterday 'you are a liar', but he is doing really well and we are very happy with how he is doing with his recovery. He is very professional.

"Hopefully next week he can be back involved with the team [in training] and then day by day see how it goes from there."

  16. 'Result depends on how City play, rather than what Chelsea try to do'published at 13:45 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Chris Sutton predictions graphic

Chelsea's Nicholas Jackson scored possibly the worst Premier League hat-trick there has been last time out against Spurs, but it is still a hat-trick and it might boost his confidence a bit.

The same could be said about the impact of that win on the rest of the Chelsea team too. It doesn't matter how they did it, they won when not many people gave them much of a chance.

This result really depends on how City play, though, rather than what Chelsea try to do. Pep Guardiola's side have a few injuries to contend with but it doesn't really make much difference who comes in or out of their team. Their squad is just so strong.

Guardiola also has a nice problem in terms of who to pick on the left, Jeremy Doku or Jack Grealish. You never know with Pep - because Doku has been playing so well, he will probably leave him out for the next six games.

Whoever plays, City are just relentless. They will win by two goals, it's only really a question of whether Chelsea will score or not. Sutton's prediction: 0-2.

  17. It's impossible for us to feel like the underdog - Pochettinopublished at 13:43 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on the challenge of facing last season's Treble winners Manchester City: "For me they are the best team, have the best coaching staff and the best coach/manager. We need to tell the truth - it is one of the best organisations in the world.

"We need to give credit to Manchester City, from the top to the bottom, they are doing it all really well. It is going to be a challenge and we want to compete. We know it is going to be tough. But we are going to try to compete at our best and our goal is to win the three points.

"Chelsea never have that feeling of being an underdog. The feeling is always 'you are Chelsea'. It is impossible, the history is there.

"But Monday [against Tottenham] showed we have talent and character to compete and to fight with the best clubs in England."

  18. 'I have learnt how to keep the players calm'published at 13:37 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino on beating nine-man Tottenham 4-1 on Monday: "One thing we managed really well was the control of the emotion. We played 10-12 minutes not in a good way, not how we wanted. But when we conceded the goal it was a big hit for us and we were in shock a little bit. After then we started to control the game.

"It was crazy but fair. The decisions made by the VAR were fair.

"I have learnt how to keep the players calm in tough moments, to force the opposition to make a mistake, and to then win the game."

  19. Jackson should have scored six - Pochettinopublished at 13:35 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Alex Howell
    BBC Football Reporter

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson scored a hat-trick in the win over Tottenham on Monday, however his manager Mauricio Pochettino says the striker should have scored more and is still developing.

"It’s a process," he said. "I haven’t changed my view about him. He scored three goals; it should have been six, of course. It is never enough.

"It is about being responsible, keeping calm and relaxed. With time, he will score goals. Monday will help him be less nervous and approach games in a different way.”

  20. 'James is desperate to rejoin the national team'published at 13:32 GMT 10 November 2023

Chelsea v Man City (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino on Gareth Southgate leaving out forward Raheem Sterling from his latest England squad: "It is Gareth's decision and you have to respect that. All the English players are desperate to go to their national team. Sometimes they feel disappointed as they are not in. But the only way to change that is really working hard in your club."

On reports that Sterling could face a ban for throwing something into the crowd against Tottenham: "We hope nothing is going on with an action that could be punished. I didn't see anything on Monday."

On Southgate saying fit-again full-back Reece James ruled himself out of England selection: "It's never the decision of the player. The medical staff, sports science and coaching staff always take the decisions, not the player. Reece is desperate to go to the national team and I only think this will be good for the national team and Chelsea also. But it's not a decision by him, he is desperate to go."
