How many chances does Valencia forward Hugo Duro want?!

A brilliant cross Pepelu lands on the head of Duro who is unmarked, just a few yards out. but he doesn't get enough purchase on his header and the ball flicks off his forehead and drops wide.

Top sweeper-keepering from Giorgi Mamardashvili who races out to a pass over the top and heads the ball away with Federico Valverde lurking.

Mamardashvili actually catches Valverde with his follow-through, but there's no complaints from the Real forward.

Real keep pushing and Valencia's Pepelu gets a yellow cad for a cynical pull back.

Top tackling from Valencia captain José Gayà.

Real's counters are sublime at the moment and Rodrygo bursts into the area with just Gaya to beat before the keeper.

But the defender watches the ball brilliantly and wins back possession with a right-footed chop.

Valencia have a wide free-kick but it's headed away by Ferland Mendy before a pass forward goes straight out for a Real goal kick.

Carlo Ancelotti isn't impressed. His right eyebrow rises after Real give the ball away in midfield.

It feels like the hosts are trying to do a little bit too much at the moment.

Valencia have a decent spell and get a couple of crosses into the box, but nothing materializes for the visitors.

On the break Vinícius Júnior forces Giorgi Mamardashvili into a fine save with his feet, but the Brazilian had timed his run too early and the offside flag goes up.

Georgian stopper Mamardashvili is OK to continue for now.

One to watch though. If this was Sunday league I'd be saying make him work, shots from way out folks.

I imagine Carlo Ancelotti's tactics will be something similar.

Problems for Valencia. Their goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is down clutching his hamstring after booting a goal kick.

Valencia are finding it really easy to march forward. The ball falls to Javi Guerra about 25 yards out but his curling effort ain't got enough bend on it and flies out of play.

We continue to have chances at both ends. Real set themselves up for another shot but Rodrygo slices it off target.

Vinícius Júnior has stepped up or Real today, he's getting so much joy down the left.

This time he's fed through by Federico Valverde, but there's no Real players up to support him and the attack fizzles out.

Hugo Duro has to score!

After such a quick start we've had our first passage of play where not much has happened. A couple of silly challenges in the middle give both sides some cheap free-kicks.
