And they will now play West Brom away in round three.

Aldershot manager Tommy Widdrington told BBC Sport:

"I said to the lads you need to go one more time and they've run themselves into the ground.

"We asked all the time for no free hits in the box - stop crosses, stop shots - and we did that and didn't have to make many last ditch tackles.

"And Olly Scott hasn't even been on a contract - but I'll ask the chairman to see what we can do now!"

Aldershot go through to play West Brom away in round three.

A nice prize for knocking out first Swindon - 7-4 away from home! - and now a second league club in Stockport.

And a Stockport side top of League Two at that.

Albeit County's form had slipped recently and this is obviously a very disappointing night for them in a worrying trend.

Olly Scott told BBC Sport:

"I'm buzzing. The lads put in hell of a shift and I'm so pleased to get the job done.

"I'm not sure what happened for the goal. I was just thinking get it on target.

"The manager said be yourself when he sent me on, play your game and don't have any nerves."

Olly Scott's goal late in the game has earned Aldershot a place in the third round of the FA Cup for just the third time in their history - and the first time since 2013.

It's a great effort and not a result that at all flattered them.

It was an even contest, both sides had chances but it was Scott who settled it for the Shots.

He takes a touch towards goals and is about to fire before Cian Harries makes a superb sliding challenge for Aldershot.

Aldershot win a cheap free-kick on halfway and that will allow them to eat up valuable seconds.

Then they make a change with Josh Stokes - who missed Aldershot's best chance before the goal - going off.
