Never seen Vincent Kompany post-match interviews quite like those. Usually he's fairly chill.

  3. 'I appreciate apologies'published at 22:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Burnley

Final words from Vincent Kompany on TNT Sports. On PGMOL apologies: “I do appreciate apologies and I do respect that."

On potential signing David Fofana being in the stands: "I hope this refereeing has not messed that one up!"

“Everything happens really quickly and if he is in the stands that is a good sign - my focus is on trying to improve the lads."

  4. 'There are no consequences'published at 22:32 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Burnley

More from Vincent Kompany, speaking to TNT Sports: “I don’t know how they [officials] communicate and there is an open line of communication, but I want people to understand how this is against my nature to complain against such things.

“What I am going to tell them [players], what happened a couple of weeks ago and now and also earlier in the season I don’t have any more to say to them.

“The frustration is difficult to hide and digest, tomorrow I will look at what our team needs to do better.

"We are a resilient team and I know about the culture. The players we will be ready to go again in the next game.

"Because for us what is going to happen is we will get a couple of lines in a newspaper, but we will not make the headlines and there are no consequences for no-one.”

  5. 'A clear attempt to stop the keeper'published at 22:29 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Burnley

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany speaking to TNT Sports: “At this moment in time I was laughing about it [the VAR decision]. There was the softest penalty given against us at Aston Villa and we were already down to 10 men with two soft yellow cards.

“It happened against Bournemouth where should have been a penalty. And it has happened again here, there is a clear attempt to stop the keeper from coming out. I thought they were incredible today but the moment there the referee has got to get it right.

“I think any ex-pro understands what the striker [Elijah Adebayo] is doing in this case.

“First I expect the referee to see it, none of the Luton players have celebrated, the look of the striker is to the referee to see if he got away with it.

“Remember we have just dropped points at Villa after an unbelievable performance and it keeps happening.”

  6. 'Surely not. VAR will sort this out'published at 22:28 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Burnley

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany to BBC Sport: "[My view is the same as] everyone's view. My view is the same as anyone who has played the game. Fair play to the striker, he tries his luck, he blocks the goalkeeper. He has a look, blocks him, looks across to the referee and you think surely not. VAR will sort this out. Luton players are not celebrating.

"It's quiet. Everyone is ready to move on with the game and then he gives it.

"Look if the consistency is everyone can do it, it's fine. If we're not giving fouls for us, that's fine. Crack on and I have another message to give my players.

"But we've had the softest penalty given against us against Aston Villa after two soft yellow cards that cost us a red card. I always tell my players careful with that, we can't blame the refs. But I haven't got a story. I don't know what to say to my players. it's ridiculous.

"Against Forest we had a goal disallowed we got an apology for. It keeps happening. It's incredible. It'll balance off I hope.

"This can't decide a game. Something done by a bit of magic but not this. Not this.

"We'll get up and we'll keep going. It's not even in my nature to complain about this. I don't like this side of me. I told the lads I don't know what to tell you. It's bizarre."

  7. 'I can't get my head around decision'published at 22:20 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Burnley

Burnley defender Dara O'Shea on Luton's late goal: "I can't get my head around the decision. None of us quite understand it and we don't get any information on the pitch.

"We're bitterly disappointed with the result. We defended very well.

"Keep going back to that decisions and I just can't understand it."

  8. Postpublished at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

Luton Town’s Alfie Doughty registered his fifth Premier League assist from a cross this season.

Only West Ham's James Ward-Prowse has as many assists from crosses.

  9. Postpublished at 22:15 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

Thumbs up if you'd have given the Luton goal.

Thumbs down if you think it should have been ruled out.

  10. 'I do feel for Vinny'published at 22:15 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Luton Town

Luton manager Rob Edwards, speaking to TNT Sports: "I think Elijah Adebayo gets shoved into James Trafford, it is a goal - it is one of those.

"In the end emotions are high and it is difficult to speak about it and maybe I can be a bit fair.

"That is a big moment in the game and we deserved that. I do feel for Vinny [Vincent Kompany] and if it is a foul I will be honest.

"It is something we did deserve in the end.

"It is difficult, there are a lot of bodies back and it is hard to break it down. We are trying to get in and they were playing a good defensive line, we were offside a few times.

"We made a few tweaks and a hopeful cross in which we got something from.

"We have found our way back into games when we are down, what pleased me most was the quality, we were really good with the ball."

On Ross Barkley: "An air of confidence and a really good arrogance, he is a really good footballer.

"He has been humble coming to us and he has a hunger and desire, he believes in what we do and played really well tonight. We are able to grow and in this league it is hard."

On Carlton Morris: "He has been amazing since he has been starting, but he come on and affected the game at Sheffield United and came on tonight and affected it.

"That is how you get the starts.

"We have people in good form and that is what keeps me up at night."

  11. 'I understand their frustrations'published at 22:12 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Luton Town

Luton boss Rob Edwards to BBC Sport: "I'm really pleased with the late point. I feel we deserved at least that. The performance was excellent. Any point away from home is welcome.

"It was a real mixture of feelings and emotions at half-time. We were dominant. But I was frustrated we were 1-0 down. We didn't play as well in the second half as we did in the first but we kept trying to do the right things.

"We love him [Ross Barkley]. He's loving his time here. Continue to do what he's doing and I know he'll get a lot of plaudits. There's a lot around him playing really well."

On the late goal: "I think if I'm being honest if it's against me I'd be very disappointed like they are. But if it had been disallowed it would have been quite soft. It's a difficult one. I'm pleased they made that decision clearly because it got us a point but I understand their frustrations.

"It's hard. It comes down to opinion. I'm glad it's gone for us tonight. That's the fault if there is one [with VAR] that it comes down to opinions. I'm pleased it's gone for us."

  12. 'Adebayo is not looking at the ball'published at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on TNT Sport

99 times out of 100, that is given as a foul against the goalkeeper. Adebayo is not looking at the ball, he's not looking to play the ball and he impedes James Trafford.

Has it interfered with the goalkeeper? Yes, absolutely.

  13. 'Trafford is disappointed'published at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on TNT Sports

Trafford is disappointed, he thought he should have got a foul, there was contact.

I sympathise with him in a way. I think the way the game is officiated these days, the referee will blow up. Contact doesn't always mean it's going to be a foul.

  14. Postpublished at 22:04 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

It would never be given as a foul in a million years on a defender, I'll say that much.

But you have to question the consistency because that's given as a free-kick against a goalkeeper 90% of the time.

  15. 'It has to be a foul'published at 22:03 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on TNT Sports

Elijah Adebayo does not go for the ball, it has to be a foul.

  16. Postpublished at 22:00 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

Luton Town have scored 10 goals in the final 10 minutes of Premier League games this season – only Liverpool have scored more (13).

Not bad considering they have only scored 24 goals.

  17. 'We definitely deserved something'published at 21:58 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Luton Town

Luton forward Carlton Morris, speaking to TNT Sports: "Listen, when needs must put the two big players up front and let us cause a bit of carnage! We definitely deserved something, but we dug in and that shows our character and what we are about."

On his goal standing: "To be honest I have seen a couple where goalkeepers get protection and I am pleased they [VAR] have seen sense as the big man just out jumped him."

On the point: "It is crucial and the lads have been brilliant even with the the two wins before Chelsea [game]. We have put in a good performance today and it is the character I am talking about!"

  18. Postpublished at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

JJ Watt, who owns part of Burnley and I'm told is an American football guy, tweeted: "I’m new to this ownership thing, so if I get fined by the Premier League, so be it… This is as blatant and obvious of a foul as you could have. To miss this on the field AND miss this on VAR is truly disgraceful."

  19. 'Last-minute goals brilliant for confidence'published at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    FT: Burnley 1-1 Luton

    Luton Town

Player of the match Ross Barkley, speaking to TNT Sports after the game: "Massive.

"It is a difficult place [to come] and we did well and the big man [Carlton Morris] gets the goal which he deserves.

"Pivotal for us in getting those last-minute goals, it is brilliant for our confidence. When we come from a goal down and get the point it is good for the team.

"Last 15 and 20 minutes our substitutions make the difference and long may it continue."

Tayo: Kompany must be seething! How’s that not a foul?? As blatant as a foul can be!

Tanveer: This moment could be the difference between Luton staying up or going down!

Nick: We all know that’s not a foul and should never be. They’re given week in week out however. Why not tonight, I’ve no idea. My sympathy for Burnley fans.
