    Republic of Ireland 1-0 Hungary

The Republic of Ireland make it five wins from five in the Women's Nations League with a scrappy 1-0 victory against Hungary at Tallaght.

The Republic were below par for most of the contest with Henrietta Csizar's unfortunate own goal the difference between the sides.

Northern Ireland, who the Republic of Ireland play next, will be delighted with the result as it keeps them three points ahead of Hungary in the race for second place and the promotion play-off place.

There will be four minutes of additional time at the end of the game in Tallaght, is there time for any late drama?

    Republic of Ireland 1-0 Hungary

Despite their lead the Republic have continued to struggle to break down the well drilled Hungarian defence.

Hungary are still dangerous on the counter-attack and will be pressing to get at least a point from this game to keep them in the mix for promotion to League A.

GOAL - Republic of Ireland 1-0 Hungarypublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

    Henrietta Csizar OG (64 mins)

The Republic make the breakthrough in rather fortuitous circumstances!

Sinead Farrelly is invovled soon after coming off the bench, slipping in Heather Payne down the right.

Her low cross is fumbled by the goalkeeper and Csizar inadvertently diverts the ball into her own net with Denise O'Sullivan lurking.

The relief around the ground when that one went in was palpable.

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Hungary

It is goalless at the break in Tallaght after a disappointing first period from the Republic.

Kyra Carusa and Denise O'Sullivan squandered good chances, but they have struggled to break down a stubborn Hungarian side, who have had chances of their own.

Eileen Gleeson will expect more from her side going forward in the second half.

Kyra Carusa scurries down the right hand side, reaching the by-line before pulling the ball back to try and find Katie McCabe in the box.

The cut-back was behind the Arsenal midfielder however, which sums up the Republic going forward so far, they lack composure with the final pass.
