It's been absolutely baltic all day in Dublin and you could probably guess which three players are daring to brave short sleeves at Tallaght.

Tyler Toland, born in Donegal and used to the temperatures of Wild Atlantic Way, and Megan Connolly, again used to the waves off the south coast, are two of them.

The last one is Katie McCabe because, well...Katie McCabe.

You have to feel for Kyra Carusa, who has been playing her football in San Diego. I'm sure it couldn't feel further away from the USA tonight.

There's a great story about referee Shona Shukrula about how she met her partner.

Apparently she was fourth official in a Dutch second tier match when FC Emmen were playing.

Jeff Hardeveld was sent off in that match and Dutch media have reported that is where they first met as he trudged past her down the tunnel.

Every cloud, eh.

Kyra Carusa fires wide from a tight angle. The striker latches onto a short back pass from Laura Kovacs and goes round the goalkeeper, but is unable to steer her shot goalward from the narrow angle.

Evelin Fenyvesi latches onto a pass forward from Viktoria Szabo, beating Caitlin Hayes to the ball before firing low at Courtney Brosnan, who is equal to the effort.

That was a warning sign for the Republic.

Katie McCabe goes over the far side to take a corner and the decibel levels in Tallaght go up a notch.

She is the Republic's superstar.

If anyone was worried about a World Cup hangover for the Republic of Ireland then they did not have to worry.

Like a student who has devoured a kebab and drank two litres of water, they woke up fresh as a daisy.

Four wins from four, 13 goals scored and only one conceded. It's literally been the perfect Nations League campaign to date.

The stage is set at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin ahead of tonight's game and it is set to be a bitterly cold one.
