    Lazio v Celtic (17:45)

Celtic have a recent success at the Stadio Olimpico to draw on, having beaten Lazio home and away in the 2019-20 Europa League.

Olivier Ntcham grabbed a dramatic stoppage-time winner that night in Rome, with James Forrest having cancelled out Ciro Immobile's early opener.

  2. Lazio had last laugh in Glasgowpublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

    Lazio v Celtic (17:45)

Lazio plundered three points at Celtic Park in early October in what was a classic smash-and-grab job.

Kyogo Furuhashi had the home crowd rocking with a nice early goal, but Matias Vecino took advantage of sloppy defending at a corner to level.

Luis Palma thought he'd made it 2-1 before a VAR offside call and veteran substitute Pedro popped up with a header in stoppage-time to really rub it in.

    Lazio v Celtic (17:45)

Lazio can guarantee a place in the round of 16 with four points in their two remaining games.

The Italians could celebrate qualification tonight if they win and group leaders Atletico Madrid beat Feyenoord in the Netherlands.

I don't know if there's too much more Brendan Rodgers can do with his team selection.

Yang will probably play off the left, which I think he's better suited to, and Forrest comes in with that experience.

Celtic just have to believe they can get a result. There's still something to play for. You just never know.

  5. Provedel passed fit for Laziopublished at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

    Lazio v Celtic (17:45)

Ivan Provedel missed yesterday's training session through illness but the Lazio goalkeeper is fit to start.

Club legend Ciro Immobile is among the home subs, along with Pedro, as Gustav Isaksen and Taty Castellanos get the nod.

Midfielder Matias Vecino is suspended, while centre-backs Alessio Romagnoli and Nicolo Casale are out with injuries, along with winger Mattia Zaccagni.

  6. Forrest starts for Celticpublished at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

    Lazio v Celtic (17:45)

With Daizen Maeda and Luis Palma missing through suspension and Liel Abada still injured, along with Reo Hatate, Celtic are short of wide options.

Yang Hyun-jun is on one flank tonight, with James Forrest making just his third start of the season. The club stalwart hasn't started a Champions League match since 2020.

He does have good memories of the Stadio Olimpico though. More on that later...

Alistair Johnston returns at right-back and Paulo Bernardo is favoured ahead of David Turnbull and Odin Holm in midfield.

The imposing Stadio Olimpico, shared home of Lazio and AS Roma, is one of football's storied venues.

The Europop is already thumping out and the atmosphere building, with the Celtic fans having been escorted in nice and early to avoid any nasty business in the sprawling stadium footprint.

  9. Win or bust for Celticpublished at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2023

    Lazio v Celtic (17:45)

With just one point from four fixtures, Celtic are certainly down in Champions League Group E, but they are not yet out.

They must win this evening away to Lazio to maintain any hope of European football beyond Christmas.

There are a few other permutations but they're not worth considering unless Celtic can leave Rome with maximum points.

    Andiamo! Let's get cracking...
