It's something everybody should try and enjoy. The clamour for hotel rooms and flights will be crazy right now.

Support the lads and wish them all the best. I'm excited.

  4. 'Loyal Clarke has a problem'published at 18:33 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    Lee McCulloch
    Former Scotland midfielder on Sportsound

Steve Clarke is loyal, but I think the squads have been cut back down to 23.

That's going to make it difficult. That potentially brings you down to three strikers.

  5. Doak, Barnes or both?published at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    Kenny Miller
    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

A real wildcard would be Ben Doak if he was to get game time at Liverpool.

It would also be really interesting if Harvey Barnes picks the phone up as well, because he would be one who probably makes the plane.

  7. Euro 2020's defining goalspublished at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

A wee look back to the last Euros, anyone?

Apologies in advance, but this video will remind you of that Patrik Schick guy.

Remember the fella who leathered one past David Marshall from about a mile out? Aye, him.

Wee Luka Modric's beauty at Hampden is also in there. Again, sorry.

Scotland's only goal of the tournament is included though. We'll do better this time, won't we?

  9. What's the timetable?published at 18:23 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

The madness all kicks off in Munich on 14 June, which we know Scotland will now be involved in.

Is it too bold to look beyond the groups? Probably. But the knockout action begins on 29 June. The quarter-finals take place on 5 and 6 July.

You'll be running out of euros, pants and socks if Scotland are still standing when the semis get under way on 9 and 10 July.

Then, it's the final. Berlin. Sunday, 14 July. Get it pencilled in.

  10. Maxwell 'delighted' with opening gamepublished at 18:20 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell tells BBC Scotland: "Fantastic. Absolutely delighted to be involved in the first game. A lot of Scotland fans have fond memories of being in the opening game of France '98.

"The way my phone's buzzing, there's a lot of people wanting tickets. I imagine there's websites crashing now. That's the joy that the tournament brings. It's great to see it.

"I think the four teams in the group will be thinking they all have a chance. I didn't see a group of death, which is what you want.

"It's all about preparation. We'll have to get a base camp organised. We'll be working hard on that.

"The travelling will be what it will be but everyone's looking forward to it.

"We're delighted to be here and be in the group we're in and see where it takes us."

Our TV team made this handy wee graphic on Scotland's group opponents.

Have to say, I think Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala might have something to say about the star player they've chosen for Germany.

  13. 'Homework starts now' for Clarkepublished at 18:13 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

Scotland manager Steve Clarke tells BBC Scotland: "First of all, it's nice to have clarity. Now we can start preparing.

"It's good. You know what you're up against. It'll be nice to open the tournament. Hopefully we can open the tournament with a good match.

"It's important to focus on the match on not the occasion. It's a good group, an evenly balanced group. We look forward to it.

"The homework starts now. I can start watching the videos of matches. I look forward to next year.

"To be competitive in every match, that's our aim. Germany better be ready for a lot of Scots coming."

It doesn't get much better than that for the fans, players or this guy, does it?

A glamour occasion against the host nation in the opening match.

I'm sure he'll keep his emotions in check. We'll be speaking to him shortly...
