Frustration might start to set in soon if Liverpool don't start making more of their chances. This time it is Dominik Szoboszlai who lines up a shot on the edge of the area but slips as he shoots and the ball goes just wide.

Curtis Jones does a little better soon after with a strike from distance, but it is too close to Alphonse Areola.

Jarrod Bowen through the middle has been a fruitful tactical switch for David Moyes in recent weeks.

But the West Ham forward is not causing Virgil van Dijk any problems so far.

The Liverpool skipper is too quick, too strong and reading the game too well for Bowen to have any impact.

Lovely footwork by Said Benrahma as he makes the most of a rare West Ham attack to get into the box but Joe Gomez holds him off well to deal with the danger.

Darwin Nunez chases a ball over the top. He's offside, but again not too far off. Persist with those runs and it may well pay off soon.

Great defending by Virgil van Dijk to turn half a chance for Jarrod Bowen to get away into a Liverpool attack with a searching ball down the flank. The cross comes in and Darwin Nunez glances a header wide.

I say Jarrod Bowen is enjoying playing as a striker but I am not so sure he is in this game. He's practically been a spectator.

It's a good chance for Harvey Elliott. He comes in on his left foot and hits it high ad wide.

Jurgen Klopp is clapping on the sideline. Liverpool have started well and West Ham are struggling to get out.

This is really, really good stuff from Liverpool so far. They are snapping in midfield to win the ball back and then breaking quickly.

Their latest foray sees Curtis Jones evade challenges before the ball is worked to Harvey Elliott on the right, he cuts inside and sends a decent effort just over.

Kostas Tsimikas is again away down the left but this time his cross is deflected behind for a corner. Tsimikas' delivery is headed away.

Liverpool are causing West Ham a bit of a problem on their left.

Kostas Tsimikas is pushing forward, with Cody Gakpo moving inside and Harvey Elliott drifting from a central position to a wide one.

Vladimir Coufal was picking Tsimikas up, only to realise Gakpo was unmarked behind him.

The West Ham defender got back into position before the visitors found themselves in trouble but he will need to be alert to that danger.

The home fans roar with encouragement because they are delighted with this very positive start and Ben Johnson is required to clear at the back stick as another Liverpool cross comes in.

It was good football by Endo. It was a good run (from Elliott) and it was a good shot but it went just narrowly past the post.

I think Areola might have got it, but it was a good shot.

Liverpool are pressing really high and that is causing West Ham problems as they try to get out.

The hosts work the ball to Harvey Elliott, who bursts forward through the middle before firing an effort just wide of the far post.

Jarrod Bowen is loving life playing as a striker and he is in that role tonight. He attempts to hunt down a ball through the middle but the Liverpool defence sweeps up.

Liverpool are starting to get into their groove and for a second Darwin Nunez looks to be sent clear through on goal, but the flag is up for offside.

It is a tight call, however.
