  1. McInnes eyeing top-six spot for new yearpublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Livingston v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "It's two enforced changes really. Liam Donnelly was always touch and go.

"Matty [Kennedy] has struggled all week really. He had a wee bit of tightness in his hamstring and a bug. We had hoped he'd make the bench, but he's feeling sick there.

"It's still a strong team. We expect a tough game, regardless. We've come up against teams struggling for form. We're just trying to focus on our own performance.

"David's [Martindale] too good a manager and the players are too good for this run to continue for much longer. I just hope it's in the games to come.

"We know with a win we'll stay in the top six. We're trying to get to the winter break being a top six team."

  2. 'I could have gone to St Johnstone, I chose to stay'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Livingston v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "I'm expecting him [Joel Nouble] to go and play his part for the team. Jamie Brandon has never let me down, but today, we need to win and Joel brings more of an attacking threat.

"It's really, really important to remain positive in these situations. I'm up for the challenge.

"I could have walked away and went to St Johnstone during the season. I chose not to. I know what we can do at this club.

"I don't think there was a lot wrong with last week. It's important that when you're looking at defeats you take them in isolation. I was fairly happy with the performance, other than the result."

  3. 'Nothing ever comes easy' - Rodgerspublished at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Celtic v Hearts (15:00)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Sportsound: "[Cameron Carter-Vickers is] very important, he's got a great defensive nous but he's also very comfortable with the ball. [With David Turnbull] putting the goal threat in the team is important for the team.

"I never don't [expect a tough title race]. There's nothing ever comes easy. You always have to work. You always have to be focused and concentrate on yourselves and if you can do that, we always expect to do well."

Asked about possible January business, Rodgers said: "I think there'll be movement. Players will go out because they want to play and, as always, you want to improve your squad so hopefully we can do that."

  4. Naismith takes 'hope' from Celtic dropped pointspublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Celtic v Hearts (15:00)

Hearts head coach Steven Naismith tells BBC Sportsound: "We know it's a tough place to come. The squad's experienced it enough but we've got to take confidence and hope from some of their previous results against some of the other teams in the league.

"We need to make sure that in and out of possession we do most of our things right today to give ourselves a chance. When we've got the ball, we've got to cause them problems."

Naismith was also asked about possible January transfers and said: "I wouldn't expect us to being doing loads. The clear area that we need to improve is right-back. We've really struggled in that area."

  5. Kettlewell insists pressure doesn't faze himpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    St Mirren v Motherwell (15:00)

Asked about how he's coping with the pressure of their 13-game winless run, Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "I'm fine. I understand what this job is about, winning game of football.

"I'll let people talk. I can 100% assure everyone I find myself in a good place and in a positive mindset. Even when we're winning games, I always keep my head down and focus on what my job is.

"I've been in tough spots before, I've never rolled over and accepted what's coming to me. It's just hoping we get that little break of a ball in a tough game with a team with a good home record.

"We're all in this together. Ultimately, what does football come down to? It's how your players perform on the pitch, but also how we prepare them."

  6. 'Impressive' Franczak earned place - Leveinpublished at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    St Johnstone v Hibernian (15:00)

Following the surprise inclusion of 16-year-old full debutant Fran Franczak, St Johnstone manager Craig Levein told BBC Scotland: "He's just been really good. He's been good in training, he's trained with the first team since the moment we came in and he's impressed.

"I'm looking for more attacking threat on that (right-hand) side. He's usually a little bit higher up, but he's competitive and has good pace, and he's strong. So, why not?

"I want to give the best players chances and I just thought for this particular match that he was the best solution."

  7. Adams has sights on leapfrogging Dundeepublished at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Ross County v Dundee (15:00)

Ross County manager Derek Adams tells BBC Scotland: "We didn't play well enough against St Mirren and didn't deserve to win. We had opportunities to score, but unfortunately we gave a away an own goal, and they quickly got the second.

"We've got a team in place - with Will Nightingale back in - that has continuity, which is important. We have players in the team that can score goals.

"[Our only goal is] to win the next game. That's always the target. Any football club is trying to catch the team above. At this moment in time it's Dundee. We have a lot of big games coming up, but the most important game is the next one."

  8. It's been a while for Hearts...published at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Celtic v Hearts (15:00)

Celtic swept Hearts away 4-1 at Tynecastle in October, making it 10 wins in a row against the Edinburgh side.

Hearts haven't celebrated a victory at Celtic Park since 2009 when some guy called Michael Stewart converted the only goal from the penalty spot in a League Cup tie.

After ending league leaders Celtic's unbeaten run in their second victory of the season over the champions, there's two changes for Derek McInnes' Kilmarnock.

David Watson returns from suspension to replace the injured Liam Donnelly, while Marley Watkins also comes in for last weekend's matchwinner Matty Kennedy.
