West Ham have won their past two Premier League games against Manchester United.

The last time they won three top-flight games in a row against today's opponents was in the mid-1970s.

The Hammers followed up doing the double against Manchester United in the 1976-77 campaign by beating them at Upton Park the following season.

Trevor Brooking was among the scorers that day.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been speaking about the Munich tragedy ahead of today's game.

He feels the club's response to the disaster in 1958, when eight players, including England stars Duncan Edwards, Roger Byrne and Tommy Taylor were amongst the 23 passengers who died following a refuelling stop on the way back from a European Cup game in Belgrade, says a lot about the club.

From having the heart ripped out of his team, Matt Busby turned them into European Cup winners within 10 years.

"I think it tells a lot about the legacy of this club, about the DNA of this club, about having big setbacks, a tragedy but fightback, fightback with young players who express resilience," said Ten Hag.

"Munich was a disaster for the club. How the club recovered and a few years later lifted the biggest trophy in European football is immense. We always should remember this.

"This is the legacy, why Manchester United exists."

  4. 'An opportunity to recover'published at 13:41 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Chelsea v Wolves (14:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino: "I think we should move on after the game [midweek loss to Liverpool]. We were all disappointed. Of course disappointed, but today we have an opportunity to recover."

On Christopher Nkunku: "I think we will see with the 90 minutes, but it is important to start with him. He scored a great goal against Liverpool."

On facing Wolves after a loss to Liverpool: "I think the games are completely different, in the Premier League we know each other and Wolves know us. It will be a different game and different approach. It is important to get three points. But we need to use the effect that we play in front of our fans and keep with the same run that we play at Stamford Bridge."

Gary O'Neil says any complaints about Wolves' failure to sign a recognised striker in the January transfer window will not benefit anyone at the club.

Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic were allowed to leave on loan and, while young winger Noha Lemina arrived from Paris St-Germain, O'Neil has said he is unlikely to make an immediate impact at first-team level.

"We couldn't afford to go to where other clubs were able to go to without putting ourselves at risk," said Wolves boss O'Neil.

"Of course we could have thrown our toys out of the pram, thrown a strop and demanded things, but all of that would have been jeopardising the good of the club and where we're trying to go."

Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a special day for the club, everyone wants to pay tribute (at the Munich memorial service) and we want to do our part on the pitch with a win.

"We can play at a very high level and today we have another opportunity to show it.

"We have to improve in all areas all of the time. There's always something we can do better. We want to concede less goals as a team."

  7. Liverpool mourns passing of Conor Bradley's fatherpublished at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Arsenal v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

    Liverpool

A huge blockbuster to come later in the shape of Arsenal against Liverpool.

Liverpool's exciting young player Conor Bradley is mourning the loss of his father.

"The thoughts of everybody at the club are with Conor and all of the Bradley family at this very difficult and sad time," said Liverpool in a statement, external released on Saturday.

"On behalf of Conor, LFC strongly urges that the family's privacy is fully respected at this time."

  8. Forest 'in a bit of bother'published at 13:32 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest (14:00 GMT)

This is a big game for Nottingham Forest, who are already in a bit of bother down the bottom of the table and have a possible points deduction hanging over them too.

The Cherries nicked a late winner at the City Ground in December in Nuno Espirito Santos's first game in charge of Forest and, although he won a couple of games after that, two successive league defeats have left them in trouble.

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke got a hat-trick against Forest before Christmas and I would not be surprised if he finds the net this time too.

Forest brought in a new keeper, Matz Sels, on deadline day and they will need him to settle in quickly.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1 Bournemouth win.

  9. 'Will Mainoo keep progressing?'published at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

Man Utd v West Ham (14:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag speaking to Sky Sports before the game about consistency: "The win from Thursday [against Wolves] is nothing without a win today."

On Harry Maguire: "He played very good in October, November and December, but then picked up a small injury. Third game in a week we didn't want to change too much, but to give Raphael Varane a rest. Varane did well, but it's the third game in seven days so we have to make some adjustments."

On Kobbie Mainoo: "You can say I expected it, but really impressive. Can he keep it going and keep this progress? In a short slot in the two games can he add and take another good performance he is doing incredibly well."

On Marcus Rashford: "I think that was a team on the pitch [against Wolves] and from the first whistle to the final it was team on the pitch, he was part of it and he contributed very well. We know when we play to our maximum levels when we perform and serve our front players we have the ability to score goals."

The club is roughly where it should be in the table based on performances this season and right now that is not in the European places, let alone close to the Champions League ones.

A cup final against the same opponents next month offers redemption, but the question now is if the collective mentality of the players under Mauricio Pochettino will stand up and show itself.

That is something money cannot buy.

Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams, speaking to Sky Sports before the game: "It's very important. All the focus on today is to get three points and by doing that we need to play well and have a positive performance. We have a game plan which we will stick to and hopefully if we do that we will come away with the three points."

On improvements: "Everything is still new to us, the ideas are new we are finding out our rhythm and game plans. Each and every day we are improving and getting better as a team. The main focus is to get three points and put on a good display and hopefully go home happy."

On Bournemouth: "We know they are a very good side and they are energetic who have a lot of quality players. But, if we stick to our game plan which we have been working on all week, I am sure we can get the three points."

Lucas Paqueta has been outstanding this season for West Ham. With assists and his all-round play. He dictates everything that goes through that team and has been a huge miss.

Mohammed Kudus has been a fantastic signing, as has James Ward Prowse. I think what they have done with the Declan Rice money has been brilliant.

Kalvin Phillips is a fantastic player and will be great for West Ham for the time he is there at the moment. It is just where everyone can play.

Phillips and Alvarez were sitting and Ward Prowse was on the left and it didn't quite work.

Phillips will have to adapt and he is fantastic so will fit into that system. It is an exciting time for a West Ham fan. They are playing well and in Europe and that's what every West Ham fan wants.

  13. 'Phillips can make impact from bench'published at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

Man Utd v West Ham (14:00 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes, speaking to Sky Sports on Kalvin Phillips: "I just feel it was his first game back, he got 70 minutes [against Bournemouth] and hopefully he can make an impact from the bench today."

On the game: "It is a big game, we want to get back into having good form. Look, being sixth is great, but it is about at the end of the season - if we can get that position at the end of the season it will be great. If we get a win today it keeps us in a strong position."

On beating Man Utd earlier in the season: "I see it different today, they have different type of players playing today, with Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw back they have some experience at the back and they know how to deal with things a little bit better.

"If we can perform as well as we did back then, we will give them a good game."

On finding rhythm: "We have played a lot of games and it looks like we have been better when we play regularly. We are still juggling with the pack getting people back from injuries and Afcon then also introducing Kalvin Phillips into the team."

  14. 'Pressure on Chelsea'published at 13:20 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Chelsea v Wolves (14:00 GMT)

Chelsea simply have to respond after their defeat by Liverpool on Wednesday. I was at Anfield for BBC Radio 5 Live and they were so poor and a long way off Jurgen Klopp's side.

With the money Chelsea have spent, they need to have a much better return than that and I think qualifying for Europe in some shape or form is probably their target from here.

Wolves lost to Manchester United on Thursday to end their unbeaten run but we know they will be well organised and carry a threat - whereas Chelsea are still a bitty team, and we don't know what we will get from them from one week to the next.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

The annual Munich memorial service has taken place outside Old Trafford.

It is the first one since the death of Sir Bobby Charlton, who was the last surviving member of the Manchester United team that played in the fateful European Cup quarter-final against Red Star Belgrade in 1958.

Charlton was remembered, as was Ian Stirling, a prominent fan and supporter liaison officer with the Manchester United Supporters' Trust.

A number of West Ham fans also watched the service, which concluded with a rendition of the traditional song 'We'll Never Die' in recognition of the 23 passengers who were killed.

Will Dominic Solanke go top of the Premier League scoring charts today?

The former Liverpool forward is on 13 for the season - one behind Liverpool's Mo Salah and Manchester City's Erling Haaland.

With Haaland not in action until Monday and Salah out injured, in-form Solanke can go top of the charts with two against Nottingham Forest.

Winners and Sinners: The Premier League needs teams like Luton, who can punch above their weight and don’t give up. Hope Luton stay up. They are an asset to the league.

"I had Luton to go down at the start of the season when we were asked to give our predictions. I'm not so sure now," Martin Keown, a three-time Premier League winner with Arsenal, told Final Score after their remarkable 4-4 draw with Newcastle.

Luton are not only giving themselves a fighting chance of staying up, they're doing so in the most entertaining way possible.

Having hammered Brighton 4-0 n the previous match, the Hatters were 1-0 and 2-1 behind against Newcastle before pulling away to lead 4-2 in front of a stunned St James' Park.

In the end they had to settle for a point after the most chaotic of games.

That, however, failed to dampen spirits in the Luton camp.

"We want to be a fun team to watch," Hatters captain Carlton Morris said after the eight-goal thriller. "We do want to be exciting and play flowing football. That's what we are doing."

  20. Are Blades running out of time?published at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

Is there any chance for Sheffield United?

After their 5-0 home defeat to Aston Villa, the Blades have conceded 59 goals in their 23 Premier League games - the most of any side at this stage of a top-flight campaign since Fulham in 1965-66.

Meanwhile, Luton - tipped by many pundits to go straight back down - continue to chip away and are up to 16th following an extraordinary 4-4 draw at Newcastle.
