  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 53 mins

    Brighton 0-2 Chelsea

Brighton are still going for it! Pauline Bremer hits the post with a fantastic strike from a narrow angle.

So close, although she might have meant for that to be a cross.

    Fran Kirby (51 mins)

    They have another!

Chelsea have a corner. First it's flicked on by Niamh Charles, then by Melanie Leupolz.

Leupolz finds Fran Kirby, and she heads past Sophie Baggaley.

It's another set-piece goal conceded by Brighton and another goal for Chelsea.

I think Melissa Phillips needs to think about bringing on Symonds and Lee to assist Terland in the final third.

    Brighton 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea are knocking on the door.

Fran Kirby cuts the ball back to Erin Cuthbert this time on the edge of the area, but her effort is sent behind.

Nothing comes of the resulting corner.

    That didn't take long!

It's a brilliant finish from Lauren James right in front of the Chelsea fans at the far end of the pitch to where we're sat.

As soon as she made contact, you could see that was heading in. Emma Hayes didn't celebrate much.

Chelsea still need to put this game to bed.

    Brighton 0-1 Chelsea

Lauren James has scored 11 goals in 11 Women's Super League games this season.

Even better than that, she's scored 10 in her past six.

    Lauren James (48 mins)

    It won't change!

Wow. Niamh Charles whips a cross into the middle of the box and it's an instinctive finish by Lauren James to thrash it past Sophie Baggaley at the first time of asking.

    Who else?

  11. Postpublished at 47 mins

Will that change in the second half?

Brighton are containing Chelsea very well and look a threat. Chelsea need another player in central midfield to help Cuthbert and Leupolz.

Travelling Chelsea fans will hope to see new forward and British record signing Mayra Ramirez at some point in the second half.

Emma Hayes said she was looking to give her some minutes before kick-off.

Ramirez received late confirmation of her international visa which meant she was able to be named in the squad. A boost for Chelsea.

If you want some evidence of how Chelsea have been on top in the first half, they produced 1.17 expected goals.

    Brighton only produced 0.11.

  16. Postpublished at 18:23 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    HT: Brighton 0-0 Chelsea

Brighton have failed to score a first-half goal in seven of their 12 games, only Everton (8) have failed to score more often in the Women's Super League this season.

Arsenal and Manchester City will be the biggest benefactors if the scoreline remains as it is.

They would have a chance to reduce Chelsea's advantage to just one point tomorrow.

Brighton have defended well in the first half.

They made eight interceptions, Chelsea only made one (although they weren't forced to make many)

  19. Brighton fans on their feetpublished at 18:18 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    HT: Brighton 0-0 Chelsea

    BBC Sport at Broadfield Stadium

There's Brighton fans on their feet in front of us applauding the team off at half-time. They are very happy with their side's first half work.

Brighton have defended well, rode their luck too of course, but have also showed glimpses of a threat when they get the press right.

Chelsea missed two big chances through Guro Reiten and Fran Kirby in particular but have lacked a sharpness.
