The flow of this game is brilliant, which is in part due to the way the two teams are playing, but mostly thanks to the referee who is refusing to blow the whistle every time a player falls over. How much better is this to watch! Superb refereeing.

You have got to admire the defending from Middlesbrough. They keep getting in the right positions and their heart has been fantastic.

When you look at Chelsea's wingers and full-backs they are not working together, that lack of ability to work together is very noticeable.

Armando Broja crosses across the face of goal, Raheem Sterling can't get a touch and Middlesbrough survive that one. Ten minutes plus injury time to go and Michael Carrick will be so proud of his team, 12th in the Championship against a Chelsea side 10th in the Premier League.

I want this type of football back in the Premier League. Proper tackling, diving being ignored and zero interference from VAR. Great stuff!

It is better from Raheem Sterling, he is trying to go for the far top corner.

He should be getting it on target. The keeper Tom Glover has had some wobbly moments so you have got to keep asking him questions.

Raheem Sterling has had a quiet day. He gets a look at goal but puts too much on the curling shot from 18 yards out and it goes just wide.

It may only be the first leg, but you still want to see a good performance from your team and Chelsea are not giving one.

Josh Coburn looks to take on veteran Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, who is 18 years older than him at 39 years old.

But you don't just get past a man of Thiago's experience easily, he manages to keep pace with the 21-year-old and ushers the ball out of play. Top defending.

  17. 'Chelsea look open at the back'published at 70 mins

A very strong challenge on Malo Gusto, in the Premier League game you expect a free kick to be given there.

When Boro breakaway they look so dangerous and Chelsea look open at the back.

Daniel Barlaser, inside the D, has an attempt for Middlesbrough and it is rising, but rising too much and over the top it goes.
