Birmingham have made a host of attacking changes but they've never really put the home goal under real pressure.

As it stands this will be a third game in a row without scoring.

The biggest cheer of the night goes to Ian Poveda. Wednesday fans like the look of him. He got a big hug from Danny Rohl as he went off.

It was more than a big hug - I thought he was going to snog him, there. He looked in his eye and thought "Valentine's Day is coming up".

Triple sub for the home side.

Michael Smith, Michael Ihiekwe and Anthony Musaba are on for the Owls.

Birmingham make their final sub. Keshi Anderson enters the action.

Willem: I'm a Blades fan, but I want the derby next year, so tonight I'm hoping the Owls win.

R, Birmingham fan: Sheffield Wednesday v Blues has to be the worst atmosphere I've ever seen at a game of league football. I can hear the players shouting to each other over the crowd! What's going on?! Absolutely and utterly abysmal.

Some Sheffield Wednesday fans voiced their feelings towards owner Dejphon Chansiri before the match and the atmosphere has felt a little flat thereafter.

Jordan James hits a low shot just past the post after drifting in from the left.

I think Owls keeper James Beadle had it covered if it had been on target.

That's the second half in a nutshell.

They stand a ball up to the far post and Ike Ugbo's attacking it. Paik Seung-ho, who looks like he's got the whole lot at the moment, is sending in balls but there's no-one there for Birmingham.

We need more desire to score.

Lee Buchanan slashes a shot into the side-netting after a cross from the right comes all the way across goal.

Birmingham need to get a goal back quickly if they're to take anything tonight.

Robbie: I'm a Southampton fan and my mate next door is a Wednesday fan. Our seasons have been so different, so tonight I'm an Owls fan.

Slightly better times for Southampton fans this season...

    Credit where it is due.

The two Owls centre-backs Akin Famewo and D'Shon Bernard have barely put a foot wrong tonight.

Wednesday had conceded four goals in each of their previous two games.

That is Tyler Roberts in a nutshell.

Lovely touch, opens his body up... and then scuffs the ball, what, eight yards wide?

He's a nice guy and a really good kid, though.

Tyler Roberts drags a shot well wide moments after coming on.

Blues have really struggled to create anything of note this half.

    Another double change from Blues.

Koji Miyoshi and Tyler Roberts are on for Ethan Laird and Siriki Dembele.

Just one sub left for the away side to use now.

It's a shame because Momo Diaby's done well for Wednesday. If you're going to be a defensive midfield player, you've got to be a nuisance and a pest.

He's also shown ability on the ball when the keeper bounces it to him. It's not the greatest surface on the planet to play on. If I've got my back to goal with a couple of opposition players closing me down, it's difficult.

Owls midfielder Momo Diaby is forced off with a knock.

Will Vaulks is on in his place.

The quality hasn't been good enough for Blues in the final third. You could understand it at Leicester, but Wednesday are down there for a reason.

Those fine margins haven't really gone our way.

This is my first sight of Paik Seung-ho. He's got a sure touch and looks positive in everything he does.

    Sheff Wed 2-0 Birmingham

Birmingham boss Tony Mowbray looks pensive on the sidelines.

If this stays as it is then they could end the weekend precariously close to the relegation zone.

His side were so passive for that second Wednesday goal. Not the kind of defending you'd associate with a side managed by a former centre-back at all.

  17. Postpublished at 56 mins

    Sheff Wed 2-0 Birmingham

Blues are going to have to go for it now.

Jay Stansfield is straight into the action for the away side.

He does well to get by a Wednesday defender and tee up Jordan James but the young Wales international can't make solid contact and his effort is hacked away.

  18. 'Relief for Wednesday'published at 21:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February

    Sheff Wed 2-0 Birmingham

    Jon Newsome
Former Owls defender on BBC Radio Sheffield

It's a big, horrible, spinning cross which goes over the keeper's head and drops under the crossbar.

Lee Buchanan has got no chance because Ike Ugbo is on top of him with a great jump.

What a relief that must be. It's all about game management now for Wednesday.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 54 mins

    Double change from Birmingham.

    All to do now.

    Ike Ugbo

Two for the home side, two for Ike Ugbo!

It's way, way too easy for the Owls.

They move the ball around almost unchallenged 25 yards out before it is played down the line for Marvin Johnson.

He stands up a high cross to the back stick and Ugbo is there about one yard out to power in a header.
