The Women's Super League takes a break after these games, with players off to play for their national sides.

It leaves sides that lost this weekend - Chelsea, Manchester United, Brighton, West Ham, Tottenham and Bristol City - with plenty of thinking time.

League actions returns on Saturday, 2 March with Manchester City, who could go top of the league, hosting Everton.

Five games follow on Sunday, including a north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham.

It's been a busy old day in the WSL - and another disappointing one for bottom side Bristol City.

There were three games prior to the Vixens' defeat by Leicester, though.

It started with Liverpool edging out Brighton at Broadfield Stadium. Ceri Holland scored the only goal of the game before she was sent off in stoppage time.

Back on Merseyside, Everton beat West Ham 2-0 to claim their first home win in the league this season.

Martina Piemonte and Aurora Galli scored the goals late on for the Toffees.

Then at Brisbane Road, Jordan Nobbs scored the winner with a stunning strike as Aston Villa beat Tottenham 2-1.

Adriana Leon opened the scoring for Villa, Amy James-Turner equalised for Spurs but Nobbs won it for the visitors in the second half.

It's worth noting that Liverpool still have to play Chelsea and Manchester City at home.

They could have a huge say in where the WSL title ends up.

Liverpool's victory over Brighton has put them within two points of fourth-placed Manchester United.

That result means Bristol City remain five points adrift at the bottom of the Women's Super League.

It's been a good day for Leicester, Aston Villa and Everton all winning to put some distance between themselves and bottom spot.

It is starting to look like it will be one of Bristol City, Brighton and West Ham to go down.

What a moment for the 16-year-old! A first senior goal.

It's brilliant from Jutta Rantala down the right again, putting it on a plate for Denny Draper.

It's hard to tell if Draper forces it home or if it goes in off the defender. It's been given to the young striker for the time being.
