Now Victor Osimhen has a goal!

He nods in Ademola Lookman's free-kick, but there's a hint of offside...

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 74 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Cards to match the colour of those shirts aplenty for Angola.

Gelson Dala is booked for bringing down Ola Aina as the right-back bursts forward.

  4. YELLOW CARDSpublished at 71 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Angola defender Kialonda Gaspar is booked for a high boot in a challenge with Victor Osimhen as the Super Eagles star looks to break in on goal.

Angola striker Mabululu is then cautioned for dissent.

Nigeria have a free-kick in a position on the left channel, but cannot profit from the cross.

  5. Postpublished at 69 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Show takes aim from long range, arrowing a powerful strike wide.

Nigeria seem to be defending a bit deeper, and Angola perhaps sense that it could take something spectacular to equalise.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 66 mins

No more set pieces for Fredy tonight: he's one of two Angola substitutions.

Gilberto also makes way, with Bruno Paz and Zito Luvumbo coming on.

Around a quarter of the normal 90 left for their side to score at least once.

  7. Postpublished at 64 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Zaidu Sanusi curls the free-kick in accurately with his cultured left foot.

The speed of the strike isn't enough to trouble Dominique, who steps to his left and dives to hold at his near post.

Sanusi's problem was probably the sheer distance from goal, there. You'd need a thunderbolt to hit the back of the net.

  8. Postpublished at 63 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Ademola Lookman is brought down by Show, winning a free-kick slightly to the right of centre outside of the Angola penalty area.

    Shooting range.

One of the strange things about this Nations Cup has been how the stadiums have slowly filled up during the games.

From less than half-full before kick-off, I would guess we are now approaching three-quarters full.

And the crowd are enjoying a much better second half, with both sides now going for goals.

I would be very surprised if this scoreline stays the same after chances at both ends since the restart.

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Moses Simon beats two players with ease but has a shot blocked.

Scintillating trickery by the man who set up the goal so perceptively.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 59 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

    How unlucky are Angola?

Zine is threaded through by Show, the ball and the substitute's run timed perfectly - but his low diagonal finish comes off a post.

Calvin Bassey had looped a header over the crossbar after William Troost-Ekong found him following a Nigeria corner not long beforehand - but the Super Eagles are fortunate to still be ahead.

  12. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Admirable redemptive work by Zaidu Sanusi, who looks like he's doing the splits on ice as he tries to collect an Angola clearance from a Moses Simon free-kick outside the penalty area but slips on the turf.

Sanusi somehow retrieves the situation with the ball behind him and then wins a corner.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 55 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Calvin Bassey is the first player to be booked. He'd challenged Gilberto and then received a shove or two for keeping hold of the ball.

Several players exchange words but the animosity doesn't last too long.

Gelson Dala has a word with Senegalese referee Issa Sy after Angola try to mount an attack.

It looks like he's not the only player from his team to feel frustrated at the ball being called out by an assistant referee.

  15. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Victor OsimhenImage source, Getty Images

Slightly concerning for Nigeria. Victor Osimhen goes down near the Angola goal clutching a leg.

He's back on his feet but receiving treatment from two physios.

Ademola Lookman had done well to bustle his way inside the penalty area before Osimhen signalled his discomfort, only to flash a low cross behind the striker.

  16. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Nigeria win two early fouls inside Angola's half and a corner on their left, the result of Alex Iwobi's long-range shot - teed up by Victor Osimhen - being deflected behind.

They do little with the corner, but that was another good example of the selflessness Osimhen has shown during this tournament. He could have had a run at goal.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February

    Nigeria 1-0 Angola

Angola, in their yellow and red kit, returned to the pitch with Estrela replaced by Zine.

Nigeria formed a huddle before their opponents restarted the action.

Once of these teams could be 45 minutes away from the final four.

  18. More prize money, more shocks?published at 17:58 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February

    HT: Nigeria 1-0 Angola

This tournament has provided plenty of upsets so far, and Confederation of African Football (Caf) president Patrice Motsepe thinks it's all down to increased prize money on offer.

On the eve of the Nations Cup in Ivory Coast, Caf announced that the overall winners will pick up $7m (£5.5m) in prize money - a 40% increase on the last Afcon.

'Increase in prize money' key to Afcon gap narrowing

An increase in prize money has contributed to the success of lower-ranked teams at Afcon 2023, claims the head of African football.

  20. Simon the architect of goalpublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February

    HT: Nigeria 1-0 Angola

    Ian Williams

This was a game that needed a goal, so everyone inside the stadium (except for Angola fans, of course) should be thanking Moses Simon.

Ademola Lookman may have applied the finish, but Simon’s well-timed run created the space before the Nantes man showed a cool head to look up and pick out his fellow winger’s late run into the box.

Angola have created very little so Pedro Goncalves has an important half-time pep talk ahead of him.

    Nigeria in control.
