  1. 'Our players need to be more calm on the ball'published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    FT: Man Utd 2-0 Everton

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to BBC Match of the Day: "You always have to fight for your points. There are no easy games, especially not Everton. They have a very good style of play and structure and are difficult to beat.

"I have to say, we created a lot of chances. We had very good counter-attacks and over all we could have scored three or four goals. We defended really well. They had attempts but we dealt with this. We defended as a team very well."

On the penalties: "It's more about the set-up. Garnacho did brilliantly with high-tempo dribbles that were very difficult to stop. We deserved the penalties, very obvious decisions. Maybe we should have had another penalty with the handball.

"It's part of the game and we have very good penalty takers.

"In the build-up area they put a lot of pressure on us. We weren't always able to outplay it. Our players need to be more calm on the ball and also need a higher speed of action. Once we get this, with more passes in and more possession, then you beat the opponent."

  2. 'We get into some incredible moments and areas'published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    FT: Man Utd 2-0 Everton

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche to BBC Match of the Day: "Same old, same old unfortunately in recent weeks. We have to maintain our consistency which we are doing. But the moment of truth is so important but currently we're not finding that.

"We had the 10 points taken away, Manchester United beat us then, and I thought it was an unjust win for them, similar today. We've done everything right, we just haven't found the goal.

"After the 10 points people forget that we won four on the trot and were scoring goals freely, so it's there. We get into some incredible moments and areas. It's hard to explain, sometimes you have to get hurt to score a goal. It doesn't have to be a clean goal, you've got to get hurt to score a goal. At the moment there is a little bit of waiting for the perfect moment.

"There were chances today where we just needed that extra inch, extra yard, that extra fight and desire to score that goal. That's the moment that's waning.

"Luck gets you nothing. Now and then you can rely on luck, but you can't rely on luck over a season. It's consistency. We are doing the right things consistently.

"If you take the goals out, that was a very good performance, especially away here. I've never had that many chances away here. I think we had 45 clean entries into the box today, they had 15. They are heavy stats. There is a lot right, but there's no point worrying about that when you see the scoreline at the end.

"We shot ourselves in the foot with the penalties."

I was speaking to Chris Wilder before the game in his pre-match interview and he was saying what he wants to see today is a team that offers hunger, a team that offers fight.

I think Sheffield United have done that.

He has stripped them back to basics you can see there's some real intent there.

Apologies to all Bournemouth fans. I put two of your players in my fantasy team this week, including Solanke as captain so this was inevitable.

It's been more about Luton's mistakes. Crystal Palace have been neat and tidy and haven't really looked like conceding.
