Really hoping that Brighton can steady the ship today as it’s feels like we’ve been in a bit of free fall recently. Injuries haven’t helped, it’s just come at a really bad time. We’ll need a miracle against Roma but we can rescue our position in the premier league table to have another go at Europe next year.

    Brighton 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Brighton are going for a second as they win the ball high up but Evan Ferguson puts too much on his ball through for Ansu Fati.

    Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham

A third is just around the corner for Tottenham as Dejan Kulusevski drives forward a three-on-three.

Son Heung-Min is screaming for the ball but Kulusevski, unwisely, tries to go it alone, firing his shot over the bar.

    West Ham 0-1 Burnley

The passive nature of West Ham's display is neatly illustrated by their heat map from the opening half an hour.

The Hammers have so far only managed four touches in the Burnley penalty area, including that shot from Konstantinos Mavropanos which flew wide.

Clarets keeper James Trafford could have had a cigar out.

West Ham fans had been getting a bit frustrated by their side's slow start but they are coming into it more now as Konstantinos Mavropanos charges forward before sending his effort just wide.

Possibly the easiest decision of Chris Kavanagh’s entire career!

A chance for Nottingham Forest to hit back immediately as Divock Origi races clear on the right, but his shot is kept out superbly by Bart Verbruggen.

McGinn was the one who was driving Aston Villa. He was absolutely driving aston Villa.

He was somebody who was really pushing them in this second half trying to get them on the front foot.

To see the captain go off and see one of the main players go off is really disappointing for Villa.

    Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham

I'm starting to wonder, is Villa's season slowly unravelling in front of our eyes?

The European schedule is stretching an already thin squad. Plus, skipper John McGinn is now likely to get a three-match ban.

Tottenham are just two points behind them with a game in hand. Suddenly Manchester United don't look as far away.

Another game against Villa, another disgraceful challenge from a Villa player. Losing their heads! They're better than that.

    The hosts take the lead!

Brighton have a free-kick on the left and the delivery is turned into his own net by Andrew Omobamidele.

Real misfortune for Forest, but that's what happens when you are down there.

    Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham

    Conor Coady
Former England and current Leicester City defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

He is trying to stop the counter attack we have all been there but he has obviously gone in a bit too hard.

I'd be gutted seeing my teammate being sent off for that but at the same time I do understand the reaction from the Tottenham bench and players' reaction because it was a real, strong challenge from McGinn.

Villa got exactly what deserved here. Spurs had such a lacklustre first half but instead of capitalising, Villa chose to spend their energy diving and feigning injury. Even as an Arsenal fan, I've no sympathy for them here at all.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March

    Aston Villa 0-2 Tottenham

Villa make a fourth change. Youngster Tim Iroegbunam comes on for Leon Bailey.

Tottenham also make a switch with Pape Sarr, who set up the first goal, coming off for Rodrigo Bentancur.

Stupid from McGinn. People will argue it's not a red but it's a disgusting foul; zero desire to play the ball and could've broken his leg. Foolish and unnecessary.

It is hammering it down at the Hammers but the home side are yet to get going. We're 25 minutes in and they haven't managed a shot on or off target yet.

Another opportunity from a set piece for Brighton as the delivery into the box is cleared to Simon Adingra on the edge of the area, but he gets his shot all wrong and sends it high and wide.
