  5. McInnes warns against Killie complacencypublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

    FT: Kilmarnock 2-0 Aberdeen

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we were good value for the win. It was tough at times. I thought we had some really strong performers throughout the team.

"My two wide players were terrific. My front two really led the line. I thought we were pretty comfortable. We could have scored a goal more. It continues the strong home form and the fact we've only lost one in 14. There's still work to be done.

"It was a big performance at Celtic Park last week. You see the strength of the bench, I feel like I'm not searching for the answers. It's just keeping everyone healthy and focused.

"The objective at the start of the campaign was to be strong through the cups and improve our away form. It's important we maintain our form rather than just hope we've done enough at this stage - that's the biggest danger to us.

"Getting into the top six would be brilliant for everyone connected to the club, given where we were two years ago. It would mean an awful lot and that's what we're working towards."

  6. 'One of the best displays' of Clement's tenurepublished at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

    FT: Rangers 5-0 Hearts

Rangers manager Philippe ClementImage source, SNS

Rangers manager Philippe Clement tells BBC Scotland: "Clearly one of the best [performances of my tenure].

"For sure it's the best synergy with the fans. The atmosphere was amazing from the first second to the last. Five really good goals. That's for sure also a positive.

"I'm really happy with the team, with the performances, the attitude. This is not something falling out of the sky, this is what we have been doing for weeks and months on the training pitch.

"The solidarity and the unity is really big in the dressing room, whoever is starting or coming in is doing a job for the team.

"My dressing room is humble, they know what to do. I will keep a close eye to make sure it stays that way. We need to continue what we've been doing until the end of the season."

  7. Aberdeen not 'nasty' enough - Warnockpublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

    FT: Kilmarnock 2-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen boss Neil Warnock tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we did alright first half, if I'm honest. Then we gave the goal away. Bojan [Miovski] just slept, he left his man. Instead of being able to do stuff at half-time, they're all flat because they've just conceded a goal.

"We need an edge in the club and we don't have an edge. They're nice lads, and I'm not saying they're not trying, but you've got to compete physically with a team like this.

"We haven't got enough. We've got [Graeme] Shinnie who talks, and that's about it. It is difficult on the surface. We've got to try and give them an edge that they haven't got. They should be battling and winning tackles, it wasn't there in the second half and I'm disappointed.

"I've just got to do whatever I can. It's going to be a big job for somebody coming in. The recruitment's got to be right. There's too many players of the same ilk.

"They're not nasty or anything like that. How many times did they leave the foot in today and the referee doesn't do anything about it. Why don't we leave a foot in? Why don't we be a little bit nasty sometimes? It doesn't do any harm."

  8. 'We'll need to learn from this'published at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

    FT: Rangers 5-0 Hearts

    Steven NaismithImage source, SNS

Hearts head coach Steven Naismith tells BBC Scotland: "Going into the game we understood what it was going to be like. You could tell they were really aggressive from the start.

"It was defined in the small details with us giving away cheap opportunities. When you're playing against a team top of the league who have got quality, they are going to punish you.

"We've had a good run, a lot of our play in and out of possession has been good. We'll take note and need to learn from this.

"What can't be lost here is how far we've come since the summer."

  12. Points are what matters for St Mirrenpublished at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

FT: St Mirren 2-0 St Johnstone

    Jane Lewis
    BBC Scotland in Paisley

An important win for St Mirren after losing their previous two games, although ironically they’ve probably played much better this season. Manager Stephen Robinson might not mind too much about that, it was vital to get back to winning ways with the top six in mind.

Neither side played their best stuff here, but at least St Mirren managed to grind out a result. St Johnstone offered very little.

They showed a bit more desire towards the end of the second half but they created very little and lacked any real fire power. Given second-bottom Ross County's win, the Perth Saints are being sucked into a relegation battle with only a two point gap between 10th and 11th.

  15. Rangers cruise five points clearpublished at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

    FT: Rangers 5-0 Hearts

    Kheredine Idessane
    BBC Scotland at Ibrox

This surely goes down as a major statement of intent from the league leaders. Not a bad time to put in arguably their best performance of the season. Anyone wondering whether Rangers might feel a little vertigo from their perch at the top of the Premiership pile got a pretty swift answer as the Ibrox outfit scorched to a five-point lead at the top of the table with a display of energy, creativity and super clinical finishing And with a nudge to the 'goals for' column to boot.

The quality of the first-half strikes from Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes and the much-maligned Cyriel Dessers was first class. Dessers at the double? No problem - right place, right time to put the result beyond all doubt after only 48 minutes. Fabio Silva's first touch? Expertly despatching a fine low shot into the bottom corner. Quite simply, a five-goal, five star display that makes a big statement to city rivals Celtic, who simply cannot afford to slip up at Motherwell tomorrow, or anywhere else, on this evidence.

As for Hearts, this was mystifyingly poor. Despite a recent record of 11 wins and a draw from their previous 12 matches in all competitions, they were well off the pace right from the start of the match and simply unable to get themselves up to speed once Rangers got themselves two in front.

Their normal defensive solidity was nowhere to be seen, they could not get their captain and talisman Lawrence Shankland involved in the match at all and were all too easy for Rangers to carve open. A perfect storm in which Rangers hit top form and Hearts were nowhere near theirs.

    FT Kilmarnock 2-0 Aberdeen

    Martin Dowden
BBC Sport Scotland at Rugby Park

Kilmarnock are closing in on the top six and, on this evidence, they can start to aim higher. They controlled this, created good chances and nullified Aberdeen to very little.

Boss Derek McInnes is doing an excellent job. His players know exactly what they're doing and they're doing it very well indeed. It's turning into a brilliant season for them.

In contrast, Aberdeen looked way off it here. They just never looked likely to get much out of this and there seems to be no quick fix on the horizon for manager Neil Warnock.

There's little leadership, no-one taking a grip of proceedings and an apparent lack of confidence. When a striker like Bojan Miovski shows little threat, you've got to worry. It's not a good cocktail at this crucial stage of the season.

  20. FULL-TIME - Ross County 3-2 Livingstonpublished at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

    County hold on!

What a dramatic finish as Sean Kelly smashes a volley into the side netting. So close to another equaliser at the death for Livingston.

But Josh Sims' stoppage-time goal has won it for County. The home side were 2-0 up at the break thanks to Eamonn Brophy's double.

Bruce Anderson came on at the break and scored twice, including in the 86th minute, to bring Livi level,

But Sims' goal means County move six points clear of Livingston at the foot of the table.
