  8. 'Crazy he can get it so badly wrong'published at 18:39 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Wolves 1-2 West Ham

    Wolves

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil to BBC Match of the Day on the decision to disallow Max Kilman's stoppage-time equaliser for Takanda Chiwera standing in an offside position:

"Terrible, terrible, terrible decision. I can't understand it at all. I've spoken to David [Moyes] and to be fair he said the same. It's never, ever, ever offside. Fabianski the same, he didn't think it was offside.

"Crazy really that a Premier League referee can stand in front of the screen, having been sent to it, and get it so badly wrong.

"Obviously he's stood in an offside position but the reason it's not offside is that he's not impacted Fabianski being able to dive or move, he's not impacted his line of vision - if you watch the side-on footage Fabianski can clearly see the ball over Tawanda's head, so I don't know how he can be interfering.

"Fabianski is getting nowhere near that header, no matter whether there is no one there or someone there. It's a really, really bad decision and I don't understand how he reaches it.

"If your knowledge of the game is really, really bad, you can come to that conclusion but other than that I have no explanation for it - and I haven't had an explanation from them, and it won't help us.

"The players have spoken earlier in the season about not feeling respected by the officials because of the number of decisions that went against us, and today again, when we are as short as we are and having to fight and dig, to suffer that decision at that stage of the game was tough for the players to take.

"That has to be better - for everybody, not just for me and Wolves - because there's no way that goal should be chalked off."

  9. 'Game spiralled out of control'published at 18:37 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Everton 1-0 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Let’s not mix everything. The game in itself was a game that we approached well. I thought we nearly eliminated all of the threats of Everton.

"We knew we’d have to work hard to create chances, but in the moments we got into the right areas we lacked that spark to turn the game into the win. The game then spiralled out of control.

"There’s about £300m to £500m difference between the two squads. The last six games we’ve been the better team. There have been games where we’ve had a lot more chances than today, that’s the reason why managers say it’s important to be good in both boxes."

On Arijanet Muric's error and Dara O'Shea's red card: "It’s our own doing. I don’t think you need to over-analyse it. The letter of the law says it needs to be a goalscoring opportunity, but I won’t go into that [criticising refereeing decisions] again. I think we played really well again.

"We just need to keep going. Just because you lose doesn’t mean you stop with your belief.

"The club is 150 years old. The season’s not over. In our last six games, we could have had six wins."

  10. 'We lost control completely'published at 18:36 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT; Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery to Premier League Productions: "A lot of things. We played fantastic in the first half, fantastic. The control of the game.

"The second half we started with the second goal. We controlled the game like we did in the first half.

"In the 50th minute we lost control completely. It's not normal. Maybe emotionally as well we were a little bit upset. We reacted very well, but they scored three goals in 10 minutes.

"I am very happy with the first 60 minutes and then how we reacted afterwards. But I have two sides. I am also a little bit negative because I can't understand the result in 90 minutes.

"I have to accept the point and think where we are in the league.

"We have 60 points. I can be happy and I can see we are having a fantastic Premier League season. But we have to be demanding. The 50th minute today, we lost three goals.

"We want to keep the fourth position. But I have to understand we are not yet strong [enough] to compete. We have to keep going with our process. I am not a person who gives up. We have done fantastic. We have to keep balanced.

"We have to keep thinking we are at day one where we weren't expected to be in the top seven. And now we have to keep that balance and be positive and be smart."

  11. 'We found a different way of winning'published at 18:36 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Everton 1-0 Burnley

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: “It was an ugly win but an important one. We’ve had so many games where we’ve dominated and not won. We found a different way of winning today.

“It was an awkward one today, but we’ve seen it through. I’m not bothered [on the manner of victory] – you need to win. That’s my job, you need to help the team win.

The conditions were very difficult for both sides today. We should have had a penalty in the second half, and they only managed one shot on target.”

  12. 'Football is about effectiveness and ruthlessness and this afternoon we weren't.'published at 18:36 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva speaking to PLP: "Yes frustrated. I think everyone understands that we deserve much more from this game. I think in the first half was a very good level but we have to finalise that type of performance with a goal. We shoudl at least have scored two goals with the amount of chances we created.

"To be on the front foot and push back a team like Newcastle, who played most of the first half in their own half. They were always trying to break our momentum with their goalkeeper going down and other things. To keep pressing them and keep the momentum to put them under pressure was good, I think we did more than enough.

"It was not the best afternoon for our offensive players in terms of taking inspiration and finding the goals. But the desire to win the game was there from the first minute.

"Football is about effectiveness and ruthlessness and this afternoon we weren't.

On what went wrong: "We tried to find the moments to change the speed and go to goal. In the firts half we created three, four, five clear chances to score. When you do this against a side like Newcastle at home it shows that what we did we did well. But we missed the luck at the end to put the ball in the net.

On the disallowed Newcastle goal: "It was clear that when Burn jumped with Calvin Bassey that it was a foul from Burn.

On the run in: "We have to keep going. It has been a very good season for us again. I have to go back and have a look at everything but even at the start of the season people were saying that Fulham would struggle that we would even struggle to stay in the Premier League, and right now we are almost at the middle of the table.

"We want to climb the table, add more points for ourselves, and to do this we need to keep working hard, like we did this afternoon, but in this way we can keep going. "

  13. 'Irritating we cannot get that win'published at 18:35 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to MOTD: "This is why the Premier League is the best league in the world. In many way, the most entertaining. First half we defended very well and gave little away against a normally free-flowing Villa team. I'm irritated about the first goal because we can do better than that.

"The mentality, the effort and ability to turn it around and go 3-2 up...it's all about the players. So I'm very proud about that. It's irritating that we cannot get that win. We do so many things right. Sometimes you cannot describe why you are not getting over the line. Sometimes it's just not going your way. This time it was a deflected cross that landed perfectly on Ollie's [Watkins] head.

"Overall another good performance. There are a lot of positives to take from the game. I'm really looking forward to celebrating with the players when we get that next win. That's definitely around the corner. We just need to keep doing what we're doing."

On team-mates Ivan Toney and Nathan Collins having a heated conversation on the pitch at full-time: "Both of them are very competitive and I don't know exactly what they discussed. But it was a little bit heated. If you can't do that then you are not in it together. It's fine. It's a little bit of friction and then you move on again."

  14. 'There is no top four pressure'published at 18:35 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT; Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery to BBC Match of the Day: "Strange. We played very fantastic in the first half and very fantastic in the first part of the second half.

"In the 50th minute we lost everything we did. But in the last 20 minutes we recovered.

"Really I'm a little bit disappointed but at the same time I'm trying to understand and analyse in the 50th minute why we conceded three goals.

"It was really strange. We have to analyse. Tactically it is how we can manage that moment better, because it was not just one mistake. We can't lose the control like we did in that moment.

"Of course I like the character we showed at the end of the match. But what I want is to be consistent. Of course it is the Premier League, if you are losing control or some focus, they will score.

"They were amazing in nine minutes scoring three goals. They were clinical as well."

On Ollie Watkins' form: "It is important for him and the team, his goals."

On top four race: "For me there is no pressure. We are enjoying. We've got to remember the first day, we played Newcastle and lost 5-1.

"Now we are fourth. Of course we are not as consistent as we were before. Maybe we lose the fourth position, maybe we lose the fifth position. But the most important thing now is to have to try to keep balanced."

West Ham manager David Moyes has not delivered a particularly positive assessment around Jarrod Bowen's injury situation.

"It is a knee into his hip," he said. "They don't go away quickly.

"I have asked him how he is and he is sore.

"In this week of all weeks, we need all our top players available.

"Apart from Man City and Liverpool we are playing the most talked about team in Europe.

"We have got to hope Jarrod is OK."

  16. 'The team that clearly deserved to win this match was Fulham Football Club.'published at 18:35 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

    Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva speaking to BBC Match of the Day: " A really difficult result for us to take. The team that clearly deserved to win this match was Fulham Football Club. First half from ourselves there was a lack of finish in the attack, to finalise the attacks and the moments we had. We created enough in the end to win the game. From the first minute of the game to the last we created enough but we did not finalise the attacks with a goal.

"Newcastle struggled with our pressure, we never let them come onto us and press us. We dealt well with their press and from that moment we could build our attacks. We were patient with the ball, did not try to create things too quick and in the end we did create enough. We were not clinical or ruthless with the chances.

"They tried to break our momentum a few times, goalkeeper on the grass once or twice and the medical staff coming on to the pitch a few times. Even so they were not able to do it.

On what changed in the second half: "Second half was more balanced I would say. We were not able to keep the ball for as long in moments at the first. We lost some balls which helped them to get into the game. In some moments the game is going to open a bit more, which is normal, a little bit more difficult for us to keep the same intensity and control.

"They started having offensive transitions which they are really strong with. Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak on the other side, Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes and created more probelms for us. For the goal we left the edge of the box empty for the second ball and they scored.

On keeping perspective: "It is important for us to look for the positives. In football the final score speaks loudest but we need to take the positive things from the game and that is what we will do.

"We lost a bit of momentum after the international break which is part of the season, the schedule. We know that we need to get back to what we did before the break and to do that we need to keep working hard.

"Football is about putting the ball in the net and when you don't it is more open."

  17. 'Brentford can't seem to pull clear'published at 18:34 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford

    John Bennett
BBC Final Score at Villa Park

I’ve just spoken to Ollie Watkins after this crazy match. Frustration was the word he kept repeating. I don’t think Villa can believe they let the three points slip after they were cruising with a 2-0 lead.

But credit to Brentford for a crazy nine minutes to turn things around before Ollie Watkins' equaliser. Brentford have now drawn three games in a row and there are plenty of positives from today but they just can’t seem to pull clear of the relegation scrap.

  18. 'Really tough to take'published at 18:33 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Wolves 1-2 West Ham

    Wolves

Wolves defender Max Kilman, who had a stoppage-time equaliser ruled out in the defeat to West Ham, speaking to Sky Sports:

"To be honest, I've never seen anything like it. I've never seen a moment like this happen before. We are all absolutely gutted and we deserved something from that game.

"I haven't watched it back but it was a clear header, the keeper couldn't even see it, there was nothing he could do [to stop it].

"We knew in the second half it would be a different West Ham team coming out - we didn't keep possession like we did in the first half and they did take their chances but it was really tough to take how it ended.

"We haven't won in the last few games, we've got a few injuries but we've got great players, a really good group and we need to stay together as we've still got a few games to go to get some results and make sure we get as high up the table as we can."

  19. O'Neil - possibly worst decision everpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 6 April

    Wolves 1-2 West Ham

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Molineux

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil is furious about his side's late equaliser being disallowed at Molineux.

He said he hasn't had an explanation from the referee because of his manner when he went to see him afterwards.

"I wasn’t able to control my emotion well enough to get an explanation," said O'Neil.

    "It was a terrible decision.

"They may come up with some explanation but I will never believe them.

"It is possibly the worst decision I have ever seen."

  20. 'An assist for Storm Kathleen!'published at 18:31 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Wolves 1-2 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse, speaking to BBC Match of the Day after scoring direct from a corner in the win against Wolves:

On whether he intended to score from the flag-kick:

"Before the game we spoke about hitting the target with corners. It's a difficult one for the keeper to defend because there are lots of bodies in his way and if nobody touches it, hopefully it goes in - and that was the case today, so I'll take it.

"It's something I don't think keepers like to face when it's in-swinging - it was a bit of a windy day, a few storms knocking about, so I used it to my advantage and thankfully it paid off. I'll give Storm Kathleen an assist for sure!

"I've never scored direct from a corner before but my mum and dad always said to me as a kid to do it, so I'll give credit to them!

"The first half was probably one of our worst performances of the season - we didn't move the ball quick enough, we didn't get enough pressure on the ball, we sat off and gave them too much respect in a way.

"But I think in the second half we showed why we are where we are and where we want to go, it was a proper West Ham performance and one we can be proud of."
