Can Arsenal respond to the earlier Man City result [2-4 to Man City] and put pressure on Liverpool?

It was this time last season when they fell apart - have they learnt from their mistakes?

It is going to be an intriguing game this one.

  3. 'I just want to get over the line'published at 17:35 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to Sky Sports: "Incredible mentality from the players to come back. The first half was very even. On the ball we could have done more so I was a little bit angry at half-time. And then conceding 2-0...that was not good enough. But then after that the response was fantastic.

"Big praise to come back and lead 3-2. And then they [Villa] score from a deflected cross. If they didn't score then I'm sure we would have won. Overall I'm very pleased with the players' mentality.

"We know we are a threat, we know we can score goals against any team in any game. Definitely [feeling more confident going into the last six games]. I've got big belief in these players and this team. I think we are building something really consistent. I'm happy with the performances but I just want to get over the line and to get the win next time."

  6. 'We worked hard to see game out'published at 17:32 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Everton 1-0 Burnley

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We worked the opposition. They had a lad sent off, we should have had a penalty [for a foul on James Garner]. We worked very hard to see the game out.

"Strikers sometimes need an ugly goal – it wasn’t ugly, [Calvert-Lewin] did very well to close down the goalkeeper. He went close in a similar situation a few moments before. He has two in two now and it feels different for him.

"If you look at the season so far, it is what it is. I can only control the controllables. A lot of effort was put in by a lot of people today. We’ve got to capitalise on [the win] and step forwards."

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

Three for Brighton and they are within two points of sixth place.

  8. 'Nice feeling to turn that round'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Luton 2-1 Bournemouth

    Luton Town

Luton manager Rob Edwards to BBC Sport: "We spoke before the game about how important it was. You can guarantee effort, try to be organised and carry out a game plan but you can’t guarantee a win.

"The character we showed, we found the result when it as really important to do so.

"I thought the second-half performance was really good. There was a belief there. The subs made an impact. I’m really pleased.

"I feel we've had one and a half really difficult games against Bournemouth - the Tom [Lockyer] situation first time and then we were 3-0 up and lost 4-3. It’s a nice feeling to turn that round and grind that win."

On his plans tonight: "I’ll probably start losing sleep about Man City and trying to think about how to stop them."

  9. 'Bruno has a long contract, signed a new deal this season.'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe speaking to PLP:

On Bruno Guimaraes: "Firstly he is very defensively intelligent, very aggressive and physical. His main quality though of course is with the ball, his technical ability which we didn't see early in the game because we didn't have the ball. Second half we saw plenty of that and I thought he was instrumental in us coming here and getting the win.

On Bruno's future at the club: "No I wouldn't say that is a conversation we are having. He has got a contract, a long contract, signed a new deal this season. When a player does that he committs himself to you for a number of years.

"Of course in the modern game things can change, but he looks happy. I see a player happy in the group, on the training pitch, off the pitch as well. So I would hope we can do enough to keep him here."

  10. 'A few harsh words and second half we deserved to win the game'published at 17:29 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe speaking to PLP: "Really pleased with 60 minutes, I think the first thirty we looked really tired. Two games in a week with a very small squad. After that they gave everything and we really did improve the performance and a brilliant win.

On the disallowed goal: "Live I thought it was a goal. Dan [Burn] jumped aggressviely, but fairly. I was not surprised it went to VAR because these things normally do, but then I thought VAR would say it was fine.

"Then I thought the referee would go over and review his decision, which he gave as a goal, thought he would have the strong mindset to have a look but he didn't. I thought it was a perfectly good goal ruled out.

On Newcastle looking tired: "It was about switching the mindset really. Like I said in the opening period we looked really lethargic and Fulham controlled things, played really well. Often the third game ina week is difficult, especially going away from home and not being able to rotate the players you want to. We did well not to concede, had some luck doing it too.

"But a few harsh words, the lads were harsh with themselves as well, and second half we saw a completely different team that deserved to win in the end.

On chasing Europe: "Well that is seven points from nine we've taken since the break. We were aiming for nine but seven we'll take and we move onto another home game. The players will have the chance to rest a bit, we'll count the bodies and get ready for Tottenham."

  11. 'A massive result'published at 17:29 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Everton 1-0 Burnley

    Everton

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, speaking to Sky Sports: “It’s a massive result, it was a must-win in many ways. We’re happy with the 1-0 but we thought we could improve in the second half.

“We knew Burley overplay at times, so we knew if we could set traps like we did for the first goal, we’d have a chance. A few games ago I might not have scored a goal like that, but that’s how it goes.

“We’re not looking at the cushion [over the bottom three] – we’re looking at the game in front of us.”

On his goal: “It was a long period [without a goal] for myself. It becomes a mind game at times, but I came into the game today full of confidence and I think it showed.”

Any other time and Saka may not have been put in today. But Arsenal HAVE TO win today. Anything less than a win and we are probably out of the title race. Unless Liverpool slip up tomorrow.

  13. 'The wind was key'published at 17:28 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Luton 2-1 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola to BBC Sport: "It’s a hard one. It’s happened in the opposite way for us, we‘ve won games in the last minute. We should have been more ruthless in the first half.

The wind was key. It was in our favour in the first half. We had chances. The second half we couldn’t play like that because of the wind. They pushed and in the end they won the game.

"It [wind] affected the game. It was very good for us in the first half and very bad in the second half. We were feeling comfortable but not realising [the difference of the] second half against the wind.

"The subs didn’t give us the spark they have in other games.

"We weren’t finding the spaces with the long balls like in the first half."

On Marcus Tavernier going off: "Yeah I think it’s a hamstring injury and he’ll be out for some time."

  14. Attention turns to the title race againpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 6 April

    Brighton v Arsenal (17:30 BST)

As a player, you cannot rest for a moment in the title race, nor can you drop even a percentage of your performance levels.

It is great for the fans watching, but must be a nightmare for the players with all the pressure every game.

It is Arsenal's turn to see if they can once again put the pressure back on their rivals.

I think the Premier League needs Luton to stay up. Shouldn't be underestimated how miserably predictable it will be to have the same clubs bouncing up and down every season. Also Luton's games are genuinely enthralling to watch, unlike Everton who have been dull as anything and getting away with it for years.

  16. 'Maybe we don't have that maturity or game intelligence'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, speaking to Sky Sports: "Two-nil is always a dangerous scoreline. We came out in the second half and scored and then we seemed to relax as a team. I don't know if it's the scoreline or what but we always come out slow. I said to the boys at the start of the second half we need to start quick.

"It's poor. It was too easy for them to get in and score. It's really disappointing because it could have been a really massive three points. We've been 2-0 up against Manchester United away and conceded silly goals. We have done it here today.

"We've got a point but it should have been three. These are the games we need to be winning. That's what the top team do. They finish it off, kill it off. They are smart. Maybe we just don't have that maturity yet or game intelligence."

As a West Ham fan, I’m obviously thrilled with the 3 points. But it’s yet again VAR overstepping and getting it wrong. Worked in our favour today, it has worked against us plenty too this season. It really does need to be used better or not at all. Sorry Wolves fans, feel your pain!

    Tom

Wolves and West Ham have both suffered from appalling VAR decisions this season, so one of them was bound to be on the wrong end of it this afternoon.

  18. 'I'm not belittling my team'published at 17:22 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, speaking to MOTD: "It's frustrating. We lacked that big team mentality where they kill games off which is really disappointing. I'm not belittling my team. I'm part of it. I feel we need to somehow figure out when we're 2-0 up how to just shut up shop.

"I felt when it went to 3-3 that we would go on and win. We had a lot of the ball and we were creating chances."

On the chase for a Champions League spot: "There is a lot of football to be played. We're battling with Tottenham who have got a great squad. It's going to be tight. We need to win the next six games."

  20. '100 games, score, what a day!'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 6 April

    FT: Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle matchwinner Bruno Guimaraes speaking to PLP: "What day, what a day for me! The first 20 minutes was not good enough from us, but after that and then in the second half it was an unbelievable performance from everyone.

"100 games for the club, wow! What a journey I have been living here. I am very happy, glad. Everyone deserved to win the game today. The feeling against Everton, to lose the win in the last minutes hurt a lot. So to get here today, 100 games, score, what a day!

On the slow start: "We did not start well, so slow wth and without the ball. We gave them so much time in between the lines and on the ball. We were not Newcastle United. At half time the gaffer said a few things to change and in the second half we were Newcastle United.

On responding to the disallowed goal: "It was a moment when the fans were singing a lot, a very good moment to score. I was looking forward to getting this goal for a long time. It was a good moment to score and win the game, and I think we could have scored a second. But also to not concede today was the most important.

On no bookings since January: "it is hard because for me when I play for this club I give everything, I am aggressive, so it is hard not to get yellow cards. I love to play football with energy and sometimes I am a little bit too strong. I spoke to the manager and he told me to play smarter. I have been doing this and there is just one more game to avoid one."

On 100 games: "I hope to stay much longer. I don't know what the future brings let's see, but I hope to play much more for Newcastle United."
