  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March

    Valencia 2-1 Real Madrid

Bit of controversy as the referee blows the whistle for half-time just as Valencia are mounting an attack.

But, Real Madrid have cut the deficit in half through Vinicius Junior. Still all to play for.

  2. goal

GOAL - Valencia 2-1 Real Madridpublished at 20:52 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March

    Vinicius Junior (45+5 mins)

    Real Madrid have one back!

Dani Caravajal whips one into the box and Giorgi Mamardashvili dives to save it but misses the ball in a crowded area. Vinicius Junior rushes onto it and taps into the back of the net.

  3. Postpublished at 45+3 mins

    Valencia 2-0 Real Madrid

Valencia have had two shots on target and scored them both. Real Madrid haven't been able to make either of their two efforts on target count.

  4. INJURY TIMEpublished at 46 mins

    Valencia 2-0 Real Madrid

We'll have five minutes added on at the end of this half. We have had a few injury stoppages.

  5. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Valencia 2-0 Real Madrid

Real Madrid have a free kick in a decent area and Toni Kroos goes for goal but it sails over the bar.

Can Real cut this scoreline before the break?

    Valencia 2-0 Real Madrid

    Oooooh!

Vinicius Junior tries to find Jude Bellingham in the area but there's too much on it.

Bellingham wins it back with a decent challenge and he lays it back for Federico Valverde, who has a go but it's palmed away by Giorgi Mamardashvili.

    Valencia 2-0 Real Madrid

Real Madrid have just settled back into the rhythm of this, dominating possession again. But that doesn't matter if they can't get the ball in the back of the net.

  8. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Valencia 2-0 Real Madrid

It is absolutely deafening inside the Mestalla right now. Valencia have not lost at home since September 2023 and Real Madrid have got a job on their hands changing that here.

  9. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Valencia 2-0 Real Madrid

Six points separate Real Madrid from Girona before they face Mallorca on Sunday. They would see a Real Madrid loss tonight as a real opportunity.

  10. goal

GOAL - Valencia 2-0 Real Madridpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March

    Roman Yaremchuk (30 mins)

    Valencia are in dreamland!

Another defensive mistake by Real Madrid and it's Dani Carvajal who gives it away down the left-hand side.

The keeper has come right out of his goal and Roman Yaremchuk just slots into the empty net.

Carlo Ancelotti is absolutely fuming on the touchline.

  11. goal

GOAL - Valencia 1-0 Real Madridpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March

    Hugo Duro (27 mins)

Well, didn't see that one coming!

Real Madrid uncharacteristically give the ball away in their own half. Valencia do really well to keep hold of the ball on the right-hand side as it looks like Vinicius Junior has done enough to clear.

It's dinked across the face of goal by Fran Perez and headed home by Hugo Duro. The home side worked hard for that one.

    Game on.

  12. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham is having to play peace maker as Vincius Junior and Jos Gaya exchange a few words.

The England midfielder puts an arm around Vinicius and pulls him away from the drama.

  13. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

Vinicius Junior is fuming as he is brought down just inside the penalty area by Dimitri Foulquier. Referee says no penalty.

  14. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

Lovely bit of play between Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham but Javi Guerra makes a good challenge and hooks it away for a goal kick.

  15. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

Valencia press forward but there's that solid defence in action as Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger clear the danger.

  16. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

The last time these two sides faced each other, at the Bernabeu, Real Madrid won 5-1.

Valencia will not want a repeat of that this evening.

  17. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham bursts down the left-hand side but he's forced right to the by-line and it's too tight of an angle for the midfielder.

He manages to chip it back for Eduardo Camavinga who leaps highest but it's straight into the hands of the goalkeeper.

  18. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

Valencia are just managing to work themselves into the game and find some time on the ball.

Roman Yaremchuk tries to thread through for Hugo Duro but there's a bit too much on it for him.

  19. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

Valencia captain Jose Gaya is fine to continue but that was a good few minutes of stoppage time.

  20. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Valencia 0-0 Real Madrid

Jose Gaya looks to be in some pain after getting a shove in the back from Rodrygo.

The Real forward is a lucky boy there, I think, to not go in the book. It was a barge off the ball.
