What are we witnessing? Awful defending from the league leaders, that’s what!

This is remarkable. United fans are on their way out.

    What a division.

    Dunfermline Athletic 3-0 Dundee United

Ross Docherty is into the book as United's night goes from bad to worse.

It was for hauling down Alex Jakubiak, whose having a barnstormer up top. "It's the best I've seen him play," says Michael Stewart on co-comms.

United almost hit straight back - but once more, it's not their night.

Alex Greive finds Glenn Middleton, who scurries into the box before dragging the shot inches wide, across the face of goal.

  5. 'An absolute disaster'published at 55 mins

It's a great goal, it really is. It's turning into an absolute thumping.

Look at the defence - ball watching. I don't know what Declan Gallagher is doing.

The Dundee United fans have seen enough. An absolute disaster. Not only is it three points lost, but psychologically this could be really damning.

  6. GOAL! Dunfermline Athletic 3-0 Dundee Unitedpublished at 54 mins

    Kane Ritchie-Hosler

The mountain just got a lot higher!

Dunfermline hit on the break, Ritchie-Hosler plays a brilliant one-two with Alex Jakubiak, he's one-on-one, and he tucks home.

Wow. James McPake is going mad on the touchline. He's loving it.

Louis Moult sends it wide from point blank range!

The ball pings around the Dunfermline box, Alex Greive lays it back to Moult, but he's set wrong and stabs wide from six yards out.

Much improved from United, but they have a mountain to climb.

Glenn Middleton almost makes an instant impact! A long throw drops kindly to the sub and he blasts at goal from 10 yards out, but Miles Welch-Hayes makes a brilliant block.

Brave stuff from the on-loan Livingston defender. That was hammered at him.

  9. Two changes at the breakpublished at 46 mins

    Dunfermline Athletic 2-0 Dundee United

Right then, back to the football in Fife. There's a change for the hosts - the cautioned Chris Hamilton is hooked and replaced by Paul Allan.

United, unsurprisingly, also make a change. Glenn Middleton replaces the sacrificial Jordan Tillson. Jim Goodwin needs his winger to have an impact.

Lovely interview between Ryan Gauld and Jonathan Sutherland at half-time, there. Well worth a watch.

We've got to mention it. Should he have a Scotland cap by now?

Thumbs up for 'yes'. Thumbs down for 'no, it's been years, move on.'

  11. United 'have to make changes'published at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Sportscene

United have three forwards and on paper, it looks like it should be potent. They've offered next to nothing.

They look weak at the back, Dunfermline have been by far the better side. United haven't shown enough of a threat, they haven't been solid. It's not the Dundee United we're used to seeing.

    They have to make changes.

  12. Dunfermline 'thoroughly deserve' leadpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

HT: Dunfermline Athletic 2-0 Dundee United

    Jackie McNamara
Former Dundee United manager on BBC Sportscene

Dunfermline have been excellent, on the front foot. We spoke about Matty Todd before the game - United haven't handled his movement in behind. He scored the first and was involved in the second.

Dunfermline thoroughly deserve to be 2-0 up, United haven't gotten into the game. They've not caused any problems, have no real width, and have become predictable.

  14. HALF-TIME Dunfermline Athletic 2-0 Dundee Unitedpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

What a performance from Dunfermline so far in this game. James McPake talked about carrying out their plan pre-match - and they've done it to the letter.

They've caused panic in United's back-line, while rarely looking threatened at the back, and they've won almost every second ball.

United are in real trouble here, and Raith Rovers might be thanking their nearest rivals come full-time.

A pause before we restart as smoke bombs go off at either end of the ground.

When we do get back under way, there's another foul from Chris Hamilton. The young home defender needs to be a little careful - he was booked in the third minute, remember.

Clinical from Dunfermline, but it's yet more poor defending from Dundee United.

Dunfermline are onto all the loose balls and Ritchie-Hosler puts his laces through it. It's yet another example of the hunger and desire Dunfermline are showing to get on to the second balls.

United's defending is nowhere to be seen.

  19. GOAL! DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC 2-0 Dundee Unitedpublished at 36 mins

    Kane Ritchie-Hosler

It's terrible at the back from United, but it's brilliant by Kane Ritchie-Hosler!

Kevin Holt stretches for a second ball, but his clearance comes straight to the winger. He sizes up the goal and blasts past goalkeeper Jack Walton from the edge of the box.

What an important goal for the youngster - he's been plagued by injury this season.

If this was your first time tuning into the second tier, you’d be forgiven for thinking Dunfermline were top of the lot given this game so far…

    United waaaaay off it.
