  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March

    Barnsley 0-0 Bolton

Not much in the way of goalmouth action at Oakwell but an eye-watering milestone for Bolton's George Thomason.

He's tripped Herbie Kane on the edge of the box and picked up his 18th, yes, booking of the season.

Luca Connell's subsequent free-kick is straight at keeper Joel Coleman, however.

  3. Postpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March

    AFC Wimbledon 0-0 Grimsby

The first chance for the home side goes begging as Jake Reeves fires over from a cutback by Josh Neufville.

The winger hasn't scored since September.

  4. goal

GOAL: Peterborough 0-1 Northamptonpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March

    Jon Guthrie (9 mins)

After a quiet start around the country we have a goal, and a big one too.

Against the run of play the Cobblers win a corner, Marc Leonard takes it short and then picks up the return ball which he whips towards the far post where Northampton skipper Jon Guthrie powers in a header to give his side a surprise lead.

Not good news for Posh's promotion hopes.

    Barrow 0-0 Gillingham

The referee's gone to his pocket for the first booking of the game.

Barrow forward Cole Stockton gets himself a yellow card for a foul on midfielder Jonny Williams.

Huge game in the League Two play-off race, this, between the sides who started the night eighth and seventh in the table.

A slight delay to proceedings at Oakwell but we are under way a minute or two behind schedule in the biggest of three big ones in League One tonight...

  8. Postpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March

    AFC Wimbledon 0-0 Grimsby

The last time these two sides met at the start of the season it finished 0-0.

Goals would be preferred this evening, and judging by the fact Grimsby have conceded 60 so far this league campaign...it could be inevitable.

Also worth bearing in mind both sides have scored 48 and 45 respectively.

    Barrow v Gillingham (19:45 GMT)

Gillingham fans have made a 350 mile journey up to Cumbria for tonight's game against Barrow, and the club's chair Brad Galinson has praised the "unbelievable support from everyone travelling".

To show his appreciation fans have been given some free drinks at a pub next to the ground.

In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Galinson said: "All we ask is you make plenty of noise to support our boys. UTG!"

Seventh-placed Gillingham make the 350-mile journey to Cumbria as they take on fellow play-off chasers Barrow, who will be hoping to end a three-game losing streak.

With both AFC Wimbledon and Grimsby winning their last fixtures, three more points for either side tonight could prove vital. A win for Johnnie Jackson’s Dons would put them right back into play-off contention, whereas the Mariners will be desperate to keep moving away from the drop zone.

On the back of three consecutive league wins, Bradford welcome 20th-placed Doncaster in a battle of West and South Yorkshire.

In-form Crawley head to ninth-placed Morecambe just four weeks after the sides met in West Sussex. Ged Garner scored twice to give the Shrimps the win that time. A repeat performance could put Ged Brannan’s side into the League Two play-off places.

In League Two Mike Williamson's Dons are looking to get back to winning ways after a painful defeat by AFC Wimbledon at the weekend.

It is now just two wins in their last five matches for Milton Keynes, though they still sit fifth.

But things won't get any easier, as they face leaders Mansfield, winners in five of their past six matches.

    Cheltenham v Charlton (19:45 GMT)

Home comforts - The Robins have been on a good run in floodlit home games.

Far from living for the weekend, Cheltenham fans can’t wait to get out of school or work, get the floodlights on and watch a match in midweek.

Despite their struggles in the table, the fourth-bottom Robins have lost only one of their last NINE home games played in midweek, taking 20 points from that run.

Despite an uptick in form, the omens aren’t great for the Addicks, sat in 18th, either - boss Nathan Jones has never beaten Cheltenham in his four previous meetings, all with Luton.

Charlton did manage a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture this season but Town had won two and drawn the other two of the first four meetings between the sides in the EFL – Athletic have picked up a point from both their visits to Whaddon Road.

Cheltenham will remain in the bottom four no matter what tonight, but a win would take them within a point of the Addicks with two games in hand and make things increasingly interesting at the foot of League One.

  18. Cobblers seeking to party like it's 1987 when they visit Poshpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March

    Peterborough v Northampton (19:45 GMT)

Echoes of history will be ringing around London Road before kick-off tonight when Northampton make the hour-long trip up the road to Peterborough.

Posh have had one over on their local rivals in this fixture for a while now, winning the last four home league encounters by an aggregate score of 9-1 since a 1-0 win for the Cobblers in April 2006.

There were seven straight league wins for Darren Ferguson’s side over Town in the 12 years up to 2021, but after the win at Sixfields, Northampton are seeking to complete their first league double over United since 1987.

After taking just 10 points from their first 11 away games this season, Northampton have taken 10 from the next six and are seeking to close within eight points of the play-offs tonight.

Posh are seven points behind second-placed Derby but this is the first of their two games in hand to try to haul themselves into contention for the automatic spots.

    Image caption,

Will the galaxy of defenders on show tonight be able to keep the strikers at bay?

The third tier can boast one of the biggest games across the entire EFL tonight.

Third-placed Bolton head to Barnsley, in fourth, three points behind but with a game in hand, with both sides knowing the winner will occupy pole position to overhaul Derby in the second automatic promotion spot.

The last time Barnsley beat Bolton, Will Smith was top of the charts with Men In Black and the sides were facing off in the Premier League in August 1997.

The Tykes have drawn nine and lost seven of the 16 regular-season games between the sides since, with the Trotters winning on four of their past five visits to Oakwell.

This is 2024, however - the Tykes have lost only one of their past 11 at home, taking 24 points, while Wanderers have lost their past two on the road.

Will one of these sides prove to be from another planet or will Barnsley fans need their memories wiped for a 17th straight time? We’ll find out at 19:45 GMT.
