Celtic have the lead at the break, an advantage they deserve.
Kyogo Furuhashi got the goal after having an earlier effort ruled out for offside.
St Johnstone had frustrated their hosts for a long spell but have offered little in attack. Adama Sidibeh has been isolated in attack and his frustration boiled over with arm into Stephen Welsh's face that resulted in needless booking.
A first-half demolition job from Hibs, who are heaping yet more pressure upon bottom side Livingston.
The hosts were 2-0 up inside seven minutes, Jordan Obita bundling home from close range before Myziane Maolida netted his sixth Hibs goal with a neat first-time finish.
Both were set up by terrific build-up play and slick passing, and Adam Le Fondre slid in to finish another wonderful flowing attack on 22 minutes.
Le Fondre has come close to adding to the Hibs tally, with Livingston's only sign of an attacking pulse from a corner which was headed well over.
Hibs have a brutal knack of chucking away leads this season. Surely they can't blow this one...
A great half for the visitors in Ayrshire
Two set-piece routines result in two goals for St Mirren, and they were so very simple. Charles Dunne and Mikael Mandron the profiteers.
Kilmarnock's record at Rugby Park has been so good, but they've just not been at it today and they're on course for only a fourth home loss in the league this season.
Aberdeen go down the tunnel with a deserved lead at Fir Park thanks to Leighton Clarkson's opener.
Motherwell thought they had levelled when Lennon Miller's shot was turned in by Dons defender Angus MacDonald, but it was ruled out in the end for a Theo Bair handball.
Billy Mckay (pen)
It's Ross County who head down the tunnel in front after a busy first half in Dingwall.
Simon Murray punished Hearts' poor defending and gave the hosts an important lead - particularly with Aberdeen winning at Motherwell.
Steven Naismith's side have hit the bar, among other openings, but trail at the break.
Celtic 1-0 St Johnstone
Kyogo Furuhashi nets from Daizen Maeda's headed pass but both players were offside.
Motherwell 0-1 Aberdeen
Jack Vale hangs in the air to meet Paul McGinn's cross, but he can't direct it on target.
Half a chance for Motherwell.
Kilmarnock 0-2 St Mirren

Not too many sides hit Kilmarnock for two within 40 minutes on their plastic pitch - and the Saints travelling army can't quite believe how much they're enjoying their afternoon.
Derek McInnes will not be too thrilled with the way his side has defended. They've looked shaky and nervous at the back right from the off, and have conceded twice from corners. That's not like them at all.
Celtic 1-0 St Johnstone

Celtic have upped the gears here and deserve to be ahead. There's been far more intensity and threat.
It's a bit of a weight off for them given half-time was fast approaching. Nicolas Kuhn is beginning to show his value with the creation that opened it up for Kyogo.
The question is whether St Johnstone will now wilt.
Arron Lyall
Simon Murray
Criminal defending from Toby Sibbick.
Simon Murray is slipped in behind, seeing his first effort saved low by Zander Clark.
Sibbick waits and waits to punt the ball away and has his pocket picked by the wily Murray, who lifts the ball into the back of the net.
Big goal for the hosts.
Celtic 1-0 St Johnstone
A long check but Kyogo Furuhashi was indeed onside and Celtic are in front.
Ross County 0-0 Hearts
That would have been absolute belter.
Alan Forrest sees his shot blocked and the ball bounces up perfectly for Kenneth Vargas to swing his boot at.
It absolutely crashes off the crossbar and County clear their lines. Frame of the goal still shaking.
Motherwell 0-1 Aberdeen
Aberdeen should now be two up.
A corner finds Jack Milne free 10 yards out, but his header is all wrong.
Ross County 0-0 Hearts
A lot of eyes on Yan Dhanda, who has signed a pre-contract to join Hearts in the summer.
He just slid in on Tynecastle captain Lawrence Shankland, so no questioning his loyalties at the moment.
Mikael Mandron
Another corner, another goal.
It's Greg Kiltie who delivers again, Mandron gets away from Joe Wright and volleys in from close range. Good striker play, terrible defending from Killie.
Derek McInnes must be fuming.
Kyogo Furuhashi
No offside flag this time.
Nicolas Kuhn lifts the ball in from the right and Kyogo Furuhashi gets across his marker to nod past Dimitar Mitov.
But wait, VAR is checking...
Kilmarnock 0-1 St Mirren
Zach Hemming makes a superb save to deny Marley Watkins, with the Wales international aiming his header towards the top corner before the St Mirren keeper palms over.
