  1. Post update

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

The DJ at Dens Park is continually playing water-themed songs over the tannoy.

    Pure Scottish football.

  2. 'New pitch rules needed this summer'

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

    Rory Loy

Former Dundee striker on BBC Sportsound

Rules need to come into place this summer where a certain amount of money needs to be spent on the pitch.

We should have a minimum figure, not a percentage of income, spent on the pitches to keep them to a proper standard.

If a number of games are called off then clubs should be punished.

  3. Pitch saga

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

Here's a reminder of the drama surrounding this fixture:

    • The match was postponed on Sunday, 17 March just 90 minutes before kick off after the pitch failed an inspection following heavy rainfall
    • It was re-arranged for Wednesday, 10 April and again was called off after the pitch failed an early inspection at 15:30 BST
    • Rangers slammed Dundee - who have had five home games called off this season - as unprofessional and negligent
    • The SPFL opens disciplinary proceedings against Dundee for the state of their pitch
    • The game is re-scheduled for tonight and the SPFL brings in a pitch specialist to monitor the condition of the turf, with the fall-back plan to play at St Johnstone's McDiarmid Park if Dens is unplayable once more
    • The league confirms on Tuesday the game will take place

    Scottish football, eh?

  4. Post update

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

    Brian McLauchlin

    BBC Scotland at Dens Park

After what feels like weeks of rain in Dundee, the pitch at Dens Park is now deemed playable for what could end up being one of the most crucial matches of the season.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement was full of anger after watching his team being humbled by Ross County on Sunday and will have let his players know they simply cannot afford anymore slip ups if they want to wrestle the title back from Celtic.

As for Dundee, they have dreams of a shot at Europe and there is no doubt the appointment of Tony Docherty has been one of the shrewdest of the season.

The 90 minutes this evening will decide nothing. But whichever result we have could bring despair or triumph for those watching.

  5. County repeat could spell trouble for Rangers

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

    Craig Levein

St Johnstone manager on BBC Sportsound

I think that Rangers could come under pressure at set-pieces today.

Dundee have got a good record at set pieces... they cause teams distress continually.

If Rangers perform the same way as they did on Sunday, I can see Dundee winning this game.

  6. Dundee delight

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

What a season it's been for Dundee.

Their draw away to Aberdeen on Saturday confirmed a top-half finish on their first season back in the Premiership.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement suggested in the media this week that means the pressure is off them.

But there's still a chance for the Dee to qualify for Europe via the league for the first time since 1973. What an incentive for the boys in dark blue.

    Look at those smiles.

  7. Rangers stuttering at crucial moment?

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

Having lost just once under Philippe Clement up until the end of February, Rangers have now taken just four points from their last 12 available.

That form is not going to win them the title. Sunday's slip up in Dingwall means they will probably have to go to Celtic Park on 11 May and win.

The title is 100% still there for them, but they simply cannot afford to drop points tonight.

Another slip wouldn't be fatal, but it would make their task mountainous. Win, and they're just a point behind Celtic with five games to play.

    It's high stakes stuff.

  8. Dingwall shock

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

Anyone who tries to tell you they predicted Rangers losing to Ross County on Sunday (for the first time ever), they're lying.

Nobody saw that performance coming, in a positive sense for County and in a horrible way for Rangers.

How the Ibrox men respond tonight will tell us a lot about them. Can they handle the pressure?

  9. 'Clement had to bench Dessers'

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

    Rory Loy

Former Dundee striker on BBC Sportsound

Cyriel Dessers missed big opportunities to put the (Ross County) game out of sight.

It's not a surprise whatsoever that Kemar Roofe has come into the starting XI.

Clement wasn't given any choice. He wants those chances to fall to Roofe and not Dessers.

  10. Sportsound on air

  11. Dodgson, Lamie & Boateng start

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

Dundee manager Tony Docherty also makes three changes to his starting line-up.

Two are in defence, where Owen Dodgson and Ricki Lamie come in for Antonio Portales and Aaron Donnelly following their goalless draw in Aberdeen.

Meanwhile, Malachi Boateng takes the place of Dara Costelloe in midfield, with the displaced trio all finding a place on the bench.

  12. Roofe starts along with Sterling & Lawrence

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

Kemar Roofe makes a rare start for Rangers as manager Philippe Clement makes three changes from the side that lost to Ross County on Sunday.

The injury troubled striker replaces Cyriel Dessers, who drops to the bench along with Borna Barisic and Kieran Dowell.

Dujon Sterling starts at left-back, while Tom Lawrence returns to central midfield.

  13. LINE-UPS from Dens Park

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

Dundee: McCracken, Dodgson, Shaughnessy, McGhee, Tiffoney, Bakayoko, Cameron, Lamie, McCowan, Boateng, Sylla.

Substitutes: Carson, Astley, Main, Mulligan, Robertson, Donnelly, Mellon, Portales, Costelloe.

Rangers: Butland, Tavernier, Goldson, Souttar, Sterling, Lundstram, Lawrence, Cantwell, Silva, Sima, Roofe.

Substitutes: McCrorie, Dessers, Matondo, Dowell, Davies, Barisic, King, Raskin, McCausland.

  14. Third time lucky

    Dundee v Rangers (20:00)

It's beautiful sunshine in the City of Discovery! Thank goodness.

After this game was twice postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, we're now primed and ready to go.

The pitch looks ok from pictures, apart from the goalmouths are looking a little brown.

We'll see if that has any impact on how the match plays out. We'll have the team news next.
