Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho will be very pleased with his side's start here.

They've settled very well, look comfortable on the ball, knocking it around nicely and have got around Derby a couple of times.

But no clear-cut chances so far.

Derby have their first foray down the right. The cross is cleared to the top of the area and Ebou Adams loops a header into the goalkeeper's hands.

  2. Pompey pushing for openerpublished at 11 mins

    Portsmouth 0-0 Derby

Portsmouth right on top in these early stages.

They come foward again down the left and Paddy Lane jinks into space and forces a tackle for another corner.

The set piece finds its way to Marlon Pack on the edge of the area but his low shot is blocked before Derby win a foul.

    Portsmouth 0-0 Derby

A lovely switch from right to left from Connor Ogilvie for Portsmouth forces Kane Wilson to put it behind for Derby.

The corner is taken short, then swung to the far post towards Sean Raggett but Ebu Adams does enough to put him off and it's headed behind for a goal kick.

Wildsmith slipped on the turf. I think the referee said 'it’s all about the conditions'. That is common sense officiating. It’s a very wet surface.

    Portsmouth 0-0 Derby

An early long ball over the top and Derby's goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith comes to collect but slides out of his area.

So a free-kick to Pompey on the right corner of the box and Wildsmith is perhaps lucky to escape further punishment.

Curled in by Abu Kamara with his left boot and it needs tipping over at the far post. But the resulting corner is easily collected by the goalkeeper.

    Portsmouth v Derby (20:00 BST)

    Joe Morrell
Portsmouth midfielder on BBC Radio Solent sport

I think there’s more pressure on Derby than Pompey.

As a playing group, we’ve never really seen it as anything more than another game.

But, we said, as players, recently, if you want to be excited at the prospect of being promoted, then be excited. We just have to play until the end and finish the job.

    Dan George

The rain is swirling around here at Fratton Park as we rapidly approach kick-off.

Despite the adverse conditions, the pitch is looking pristine, perfect conditions for any knee slides tonight!

Stadium filling up nicely with the Derby fans taking up the majority of Portsmouth’s Milton End.

Both sets of supporters furiously applaud their teams as they complete their pre match warm-ups. Sure to be electric come 8pm, big game feel!

    Portsmouth v Derby (20:00 BST)

    Darren Robinson
Former Derby coach on BBC Radio Derby

We were kind of calling for that. I think it’s an obvious choice and a good selection by Paul Warne. James Collins is the target man and offers that platform for Derby. I think it’s a positive change and he brings out the best in Mendez-Laing.

  13. 'No knee slides'published at 19:49 British Summer Time 2 April 2024

    Portsmouth v Derby (20:00 BST)

    Andy Moon
    BBC Radio Solent sport

It is really wet. It’s a bit of a test of the pitch.

The groundsman earlier said ‘no knee slides’ to John Mousinho as he walked by. I’m not sure we’re going to see a knee slide from him.

But, if you score in front of the Fratton End, it’s going to be very tempting.

  14. 'It will be a loud night'published at 19:47 British Summer Time 2 April 2024

    Portsmouth v Derby (20:00 BST)

Derby manager Paul Warne is expecting a lively evening at Fratton Park.

His side can seal a place in the play-offs with victory but will be targeting much more from the final five games.

"I don't see them as significantly better - just more consistent," Warne said of tonight's opponents.

  15. 'Reward the long-suffering fans'published at 19:46 British Summer Time 2 April 2024

    Portsmouth v Derby (20:00 BST)

Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho has said he wants his team to reward their supporters with promotion.

The 37-year-old was given the job in January 2023, his first job as a head coach, and has surprised a few people by guiding Pompey to the cusp of the second tier.

And he wants to repay the faith of fans who have stuck by the club since 2012, when relegation from the Championship preceded financial problems and a decade of mediocrity.

  16. Mullin seeking Dragons milestonepublished at 19:43 British Summer Time 2 April 2024

    Doncaster v Wrexham (19:45 BST)

    Rob Phillips
BBC Wales football correspondent at the Eco-Power Stadium

Wrexham are unchanged from the side which had that statement 2-0 win over fellow promotion-chasers Mansfield Town, at the Stok Racecourse, last Saturday.

Prolific striker Paul Mullin scored both goals to knock Mansfield off the top of the table and take his season’s tally to 20.

Tonight, Mullin needs just one goal to claim a century for the club since his arrival from Cambridge United in 2021.

Meanwhile, Doncaster’s top scorer Joe Ironside is on the bench despite 14 league goals this season as Joseph Olowu and Maxime Biamou are drafted into the starting line-up.

    Doncaster v Wrexham (19:45 BST)

There's another EFL game tonight and it comes from League Two as Doncaster host Wrexham.

The North Walians are trying to add to their fairytale with back-to-back promotions and currently sit third in the table with six games to go.

They have a two-point advantage on fourth-placed Milton Keynes but also have two games in hand.

Doncaster are down in 16th but have won four games in a row. We'll keep you up to speed with that one too.

  19. Rams returning to second tier?published at 19:37 British Summer Time 2 April 2024

    Portsmouth v Derby (20:00 BST)

Derby have more work to do to secure a return back to the Championship.

They start the night just three points clear of Bolton in third but will have played a game more after this evening.

Their run of four consecutive wins was snapped by a defeat at Northampton 10 days ago but they bounced back on Good Friday to beat Blackpool.

  20. Championship chimes for Pompeypublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 2 April 2024

    Portsmouth v Derby (20:00 BST)

Six games to go, five points clear at the top of the table, an eight-point gap back to third and with a game in hand, Portsmouth are looking all set to get back to the Championship.

But the final furlong can often be the most difficult. Lose tonight and who knows what the final month of the season could bring.

For the moment, the promotion push shows no signs of slowing. They are 13 games unbeaten in the league, with only three draws in that run.

Eight more points will secure them Championship football again.
