Southampton have perked up of late and have certainly brightened up an already exciting race for automatic promotion from the Championship.

But they've suffered a pair of blows this week off the pitch.

Firstly, goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu was ruled out until 2025 after rupturing his Achilles tendon having been injured during the warm-up against Preston on Tuesday night.

Then director of football Jason Wilcox left the club after Saints "reluctantly agreed" to allow him to join Manchester United on Friday.

Russell Martin's side take on Cardiff today hoping to crash the automatic promotion party. Can they temper a poor week?

Umar Azam: Rose tinted goggles from my fellow fans here, who have obviously forgotten our last season in the Premier League. Good vibes and legend status do not equal goals and wins.

Josh Earl: What a pass from Kipre. Perfectly weighted.

Anon: As a Saints fan I would take Vardy in a heartbeat as we have lacked a natural goal scorer and not many come better.
