John Souttar, that's a nightmare for the Rangers defender as Kenneth Vargas nicks the ball off him and he's away.

His pass across goal is too late though and the Ibrox side clear.

The Rangers players look a yard sharper than their opponents and have started the second half way brighter than Hearts.

Won’t be too long before Steven Naismith turns to the bench if things don’t improve quickly.

Jorge Grant whips it into the six-yard box and Rangers clear.

  5. Big spaces in midfield for Rangerspublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 21 April

    Rangers 1-0 Hearts

Tidy start to the second half from Rangers, for whom Todd Cantwell and John Lundstram are operating in way more space than Hearts boss Steven Naismith will be happy with.

He's already motioned to the subs to go and have a warm up. Changes likely soon?

  6. Postpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 21 April

    Rangers 1-0 Hearts

Todd Cantwell zips a fine pass into Cyriel Dessers.

His first touch is good but he fails to get a shot or pass away.

No changes for either side, may I add.

The players are out and away we go again.

  9. 'Hearts tinkering could make big difference'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 21 April

Former Hearts striker on BBC Sportsound

Without making any substitutes, Steven Naismith can tinker with the set up and it would make a big difference.

I'd like to see Kenneth Vargas down the middle. He's very quick and if he got in between John Souttar and Leon Balogun, they'd drop off.

Right now, they can press up. It would give Hearts more of a threat, after playing their way back into the game.

  11. Night and day for Rangerspublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 21 April

    HT: Rangers 1-0 Hearts

    Brian McLauchlin
    BBC Scotland at Hampden

There is no comparison between this Rangers side today and the ones that lost last week in Dingwall and were then held to a 0-0 draw in Dundee on Wednesday.

They look more assured on the ball and determined to win every challenge.

It looks as if they have spooked Hearts a bit and it will be interesting to see how Steven Naismith's side respond.

  12. Dessers the enigmapublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 21 April

    Tom English
BBC Scotland's chief sports writer on Sportsound

Poor stuff so far, or maybe the bar yesterday was set at such an impossible high that everything would look inferior when set alongside it.

Hearts have grown into it after the early goal but it's all a bit messy out there. Not a lot to get the teeth into.

Lovely finish by Cyriel Dessers though. Bit of an enigma, the big man.

  13. Rangers look more like themselvespublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 21 April

    HT: Rangers 1-0 Hearts

    Kheredine Idessane
    BBC Scotland at Hampden

They may only have two wins from their last half dozen domestic matches, but the sight of the national stadium - and the prospect of a final against rivals Celtic - has lifted Rangers.

They look much more like the side which went on that long run of wins at the start of the year.

What response can Hearts muster, having now conceded 12 goals to Rangers this season?

  14. 'Conundrum for Naismith'published at 15:52 British Summer Time 21 April

    HT: Rangers 1-0 Hearts

    John Robertson
Former Hearts striker on BBC Sportsound

You take the first 10 minutes out the equation, it's been an even game. Hearts haven't got to grips with Todd Cantwell, that's the big problem.

Steven Naismith has to sort out that conundrum.

Not as mad as yesterday, but still gripping stuff.

Cyriel Dessers' well-taken goal splits them.

Hearts overplay, Rangers pick the ball, now they're off.

Todd Cantwell feeds Rabbi Matondo, who gets squeezed out at the bye-line.

Has to get a shot away there.

It's important now that Hearts get to the break.

Steven Naismith is cutting a frustrated figure.

He can sense his team can get back into the game after Rangers' quick start.

Both sides play a mini game of 'who can give the ball away the most?' before Frankie Kent's crunching tackle sends the ball out.

    Half-time incoming.
