  1. 'I want Bowen to get 20 Premier League goals'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Liverpool

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes talking to TNT Sports: "I think we did [bounce back well from last week]. I would have liked more than a point, we've drawn a lot and today is another. It is a good point and to be 2-1 down and take a battering, we did great to keep going."

On the goals: "They were really good goals. I enjoyed them. Jarrod [Bowen] is in goalscoring form. Congratulations to him on 20 goals in all competitions. I think it is a long time since someone has done that at West Ham. He is a fantastic player. I hope he keeps going."

Equalling Di Canio's 16 goals in a Premier League season: "That is where I'd like the 20 goals, I'd like them to be 20 Premier League goals. I've got something for him to chase in the last three games."

Michail Antonio: "He's got fitter in the last three or four months. We missed him around November time, he got an injury with Jamaica, but he's come back, led the line well and got a few goals for us, which was missing from his game a little."

On the game as a whole: "They started the first half on fire, we couldn't get the ball. Everyone probably watched Everton-Liverpool and Everton were similar, compact and hard to play against. We did much of the same. The first goal was important for us. Great credit to the lads for the character they showed to come back from there."

  2. 'I'm not in the mood to talk about that to be honest'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to TNT Sports:

On his exchange with Mohamed Salah on the touchline: "No [I can't say what was said], but we spoke about it already in the dressing room. That's done.

On the title race: "I'm not in the mood to talk about that to be honest or look at that at all. We had to win here, we knew that, and we didn't, and now we have a little bit more time between now and the next game. We try to get the boys ready again and we will go again."

  3. 'That has been the story of the last four weeks'published at 14:50 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: West Ham 2-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to TNT Sports: "Very disappointed, obviously. I think everyone can see that only one team wins the game, and that is us with the chances we created, with the possession we had, with all the things we did. It was a tough one at the end of a four games in 10 days period, but I think the players did really well.

"We just conceded out of nothing and need a few more chances and kind of scrappy goals in the end to score twice. When we are 2-1 up we could control it, and still as I said in a lot of moments playing really well but the final situation we didn't take. That has been the story of the last four weeks."

On if it is unlucky for a few attackers to be out of form: "It is what it is. You see the games. We are together and we go through that together, that is all. The boys want it, they fought hard, gave absolutely everything. For some of them it was definitely too hard today, and yes that's it."

On the second half reaction: "Very pleased. It was very good and it was what we needed, the early goal helped obviously. We find chances always, you see in the first half we have a lot.

"What I don't understand is that with each chance we miss everyone is there throwing arms, but a chance is the closest you can get to a goal so we have to be more positive there. Accept these kind of things happen and then do it again, and again and again.

"We played well but didn't finish the situations off and now we have to acknowledge and carry on."

  4. 'Little too late for Burnley to rescue themselves'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 27 April

Former Chelsea and Blackburn striker on Football Focus

Burnley's good run of form has come a little too late in the season. I think it is just too late for them to rescue themselves.

Vincent Kompany has changed things a little bit, the goalkeeping situation is a nightmare - he dropped James Trafford and then Arijanet Muric comes in and makes a couple of errors. He has made some good saves for them in the last few games.

Performances have been there for them in this later stage of the season and Kompany has been banging on about it all year about levels but you have to convert that effort into points, and it looks to have come a little too late.

Ethan Wheatley made Manchester United history on Wednesday, but he didn't escape school on Thursday.

Wheatley became the 250th Academy graduate to make his first-team debut for the Old Trafford in the 4-2 win over Sheffield United.

It capped a remarkable week for the Stockport-born 18-year-old, who was on the bench for the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry at the weekend and then played a key role in United Under-18s Premier League Cup final win against Manchester City on Tuesday.

But it didn’t excuse him his studies as he aims to get an Extended Diploma in Marketing.

“When you are a youth team player, you are still of scholarship age and duty bound to continue with your education,” said United’s head of academy, Nick Cox.

"He is in the upper sixth, so he has to stay at the school until the end of the year.

“He has been pestering us to come into school and get the education finished. He has never told me this but I would suspect one motive is that it would feel pretty good walking into school having just made your Manchester United debut. I don’t blame him for that.”

Wheatley has come a long way since his trip to the Czech Republic as an 11-year-old, which was recalled in a conversation between Cox and Neil Gittens, United’s head of player development for youngsters between the ages of nine and 12 in the wake of Wheatley’s senior bow.

“Neil and I took Ethan on a tour to the Czech Republic,” said Cox. “We were recalling how nervous and tearful he was about being away from home.

“He was a little bit overawed by the whole experience. We had to encourage him and coax him to play games. We were basically bribing him with chocolate pancakes. That feels like yesterday.”

Eberechi Eze is a class act.

The truth is, Crystal Palace are a well run club but he will have aims to go higher up, to win Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues. He is a difference maker, he is good enough to go higher, probably too good for Palace.

I just worry about the balance in this Luton side.

People always say that they have a goal or two in them but the issue is keeping teams out at the other end. Brentford carved them open time after time last weekend, it was 5-1 but it could have been eight.

On Jurgen Klopp's and Mohammed Salah's touchline exchange...

It is not good to see at all.

You have two people who are equally important to the football club.

The connection between the two has to be of respect and respect how they have helped each other's careers.

With Mo Salah being pushed out a little bit he doesn't like that - it is a clash of egos.

If you asked me after last weekend's defeat against Brentford when they lost 5-1, 'could Luton get out of it?', I would have said no, because they started to look like a Championship side. However the table says differently.

You look at their fixtures, they have a chance. Today they go to Wolves which is not a bad place to go to, one win in eight for them, so it is not a bad place to go. Maybe today is the day they begin to turn it around.

One point behind Forest, who face Manchester City tomorrow, so it is a big opportunity today.

  11. 'Knife edge'published at 14:41 British Summer Time 27 April

    Wolves v Luton (15:00 BST)

    Geoff Doyle
    BBC Three Counties Radio sport

Independent commission panels, tribunals, points deductions, appeals, points additions and now VAR bias accusations. What a crazy season this has been. None of it instigated by Luton but all of it affecting them.

The outburst from Nottingham Forest at the weekend was extraordinary implying their defeat at Everton was because the VAR official was a Luton fan. The irony is Luton would have preferred a draw.

It shouldn’t directly affect the Hatters but a bit like when Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho pointedly introduced officials into their narrative before games, it sows that little seed of doubt. Officiating in these final four matches is now going to be on a knife edge.

  12. Wolves to beat Luton?published at 14:40 British Summer Time 27 April

    Wolves v Luton (15:00 BST)

Wolves are in awful form so this might seem like a good fixture for Luton, who are desperate for points. I am not so sure it will work out that way.

I watched the Hatters' lose 5-1 at home to Brentford last week and while they play expansive football which means they carry an attacking threat, it means they are extremely vulnerable at the back.

Luton's approach is to be brave, and I understand that, but the Bees could have scored eight or nine and Wolves are good enough to expose those frailties too.

I said that Luton boss Rob Edwards will be manager of the season if he keeps them in the Premier League, and I stand by that - but he is up against it now.

    Sutton's prediction: 3-1

Fair to say most Liverpool fans want the season to end now. We look a broken team mentally and physically and have done since FA Cup defeat at Man Utd in March. We lack resilience.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has accepted that relegation from the Premier League is "inevitable".

The Blades boss is already looking to next season in the Championship and the work that needs to be done to ensure his reshaped team are ready to make an immediate impact given they will only have two seasons of parachute payments, rather than three.

Decisions need to be made on Ben Brereton Diaz, Mason Holgate, James McAtee and Yasser Larouci, whose loan deals end on 30 June. In addition, numerous players, including Oli McBurnie, Jayden Bogle and goalkeeper Wes Foderingham are out of contract.

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo talking to TNT Sports: "The result was not what we wanted. We came for three points. We played a good game, we controlled the first half and then conceded. It is tough to come back but we scored two goals and then we needed to stay more calm and keep the ball. We needed to play and not concede, but we did."

On what Jurgen Klopp's half-time message was: "We just have to go for it. We've done it a lot of times this season, bouncing back from a goal against. That was the message, just give it our all."

On more missed chances: "The ball is not going in. That is a thing we've had to improve for a pretty long time now. If we knew why [it was happening] we'd solve the problem. I don't know."

On the title race: "We're in a very, very difficult position. If Arsenal win it is five points and Man City have some games in hard. It is going to be difficult, not impossible, but very very difficult."

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe says he wants to build a team around Bruno Guimaraes after it emerged the Brazil midfielder's £100m release clause expires this summer.

Guimaraes, 26, has been one of Newcastle's standout players this season and has been linked with Manchester City and Arsenal.

He signed a new five-year contract in October 2023, having impressed following a move from Lyon in January 2022.

"Having that [release clause] was well planned and structured by the club," said Howe. "We don’t want constant speculation, it’s not healthy for the player or for us. It goes without saying we want to keep him, I want to build our team around him.

"His form has been very good and he seems very happy and settled. He’ll be thinking about a very busy summer ahead, where hopefully we can take the team - with him a big part of it. But we aren’t in control of that so let’s see."

Expect Liverpool to lose to both Spurs and Villa and need something from the last game against Wolves to hold on to a top four place. Pundits talking about comparisons with the top two are delusional. It’s top four Liverpool are fighting for and current form makes it a coin toss.
