I was desperately battering away at my match report, but I couldn't help but soak in those scenes a bit.

Dundee United have struggled for a bond between players and support this season, but that all went out the window as they embraced on the pitch.

One of the loudest renditions of Deacon Blue's Dignity I've heard. And, trust me, I've heard a few.

Today's Scottish Cup semi-final was not the only thrilling finish in Scottish football this afternoon.

Three teams went into the final day with a chance of the title.

However, it was Buckie Thistle who prevailed thanks to a 1-0 win at home to Keith.

It means Brechin City miss out on goal difference despite winning 2-1 away to Brora Rangers.

Fraserburgh needed both their title rivals to lose and to win their game but fall short despite thrashing bottom side Strathspey Thistle 11-0.

Lowland League champions East Kilbride await Buckie in the play-off semi-final.

  7. Tight at the bottom as Rose losepublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 20 April

    Scottish League 2

The big interest in the fourth tier is at the bottom, where it has just tightened up again.

Bonnyrigg Rose remain favourites to avoid the drop despite losing at home to Spartans.

But Stranraer are just two points behind after their draw at home to Dumbarton, while bottom side Clyde are one further back after drawing with champions Stenhousemuir.

Spartans' win means they have moved to within two points of Peterhead, who drew away to Elgin City, and Dumbarton as the three sides jostle for play-off positions.

    • Bonnyrigg Rose 0-1 Spartans
    • Clyde 2-2 Stenhousemuir
    • Elgin City 1-1 Peterhead
    • Forfar Athletic 2-1 East Fife
    • Stranraer 0-0 Dumbarton

    Scottish League 1

Cove Rangers go into tonight's live game on BBC Alba at home to Alloa Athletic with a chance to overtake Montrose into the promotion places in League 1.

Montrose stay just a point ahead after their home defeat by second-top Hamilton Accies.

Annan Athletic have moved two points clear of Stirling Albion in the relegation play-off spot after a win away to Edinburgh City as their rivals were held at home by Queen of the South.

Meanwhile, champions Falkirk were held at home by Kelty Hearts.

    • Edinburgh City 1-2 Annan Athletic
    • Falkirk 2-2 Kelty Hearts
    • Montrose 1-2 Hamilton Academical
    • Stirling Albion 0-0 Queen of the South

  9. Morton safe after Gayfield winpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 20 April

    Scottish Championship

Elsewhere in the second tier, Morton's 2-1 win away to already doomed Arbroath means the Greenock side are now officially clear of relegation trouble themselves.

Indeed, Dougie Imrie's side have jumped up to fifth spot ahead of Dunfermline, who were held at home by Queen's Park.

The Spiders remain in the second-bottom relegation play-off spot but are now to within a point of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

It means Dunfermline, six points ahead of Queen's Park, Ayr and Caley Thistle can still all face that play-off to stay in the division.

  10. United poised for Premiership returnpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 20 April

    Scottish Championship

So how come Dundee United can celebrate the Championship title despite Raith Rovers only being six points behind with two games to go?

Well, you just have to look at United's 36-goal difference advantage.

Arithmetically, they can be caught. Realistically, Jim Goodwin's side are back in the Premiership already.
