Leah Williamson dinks the ball into the feet of Alessia Russo who hooks it on to Beth Mead on the right side of the box.

Mead then goes for the half volley, fizzing the ball towards the far post, but it drifts a whisker wide of the target.

We head into three minutes of additional time.

Speculative effort from Martina Piemonte, who from around 40 yards out whacks the ball towards the Arsenal goal.

It would have to have been a special effort to beat Manuela Zinsberger from there. You can't blame the Italian for trying though, she's been starved of service in this first half.

Yet another Arsenal corner is fired into the near post by Katie McCabe.

Justine Vanhaevermaet is on hand to clear it out for another corner.

The next one is fired into the middle this time, but a melee in the middle leads to the ref stopping play for a high boot from Alessia Russo.

Arsenal are starting to just get a little frustrated here, taking more long range shots than they did in the opening minutes.

Captain Kim Little is the latest to launch a shot from the edge of the D but it is well blocked by a combination of Megan Finnigan and Justine Vanhaevermaet.

A nasty knock to the head for Arsenal's Katie McCabe that will need some treatment.

She went to nick in to win the ball between two Everton defenders on the wing but instead got sandwiched between them.

Brian Sorensen will want it to improve.

They finished sixth last season and I was really hoping they could kick on but they have struggled with injuries.

In spite of Arsenal dominating the lion's share of chances and possession in this first half so far, Everton have come the closest to breaking the deadlock.

Sara Holmgaard's header was just inches away from giving the home side the lead.

The Everton forward turns to her teammates and questions why no one has followed up the press, as Arsenal play out through the half hearted attack and start their metronomic passing once again.

Great driving run and cross field pass from Karen Holmgaard to send Emma Bissell into space on the right hand side.

Bissell curls a cross into the box which is cleared by Leah Williamson, and Lucy Hope's volleyed effort on the rebound is also blocked and cleared.

The Republic of Ireland international is back on her feet and ready to continue for now.

The game has just paused briefly while Everton stopper Courtney Brosnan is down needing treatment.

She had a few issues last time out against Brighton too, but the home side will be hoping she will be able to shake this off and continue here.

Caitlin Foord should have done better. She'll be really disappointed that she didn't connect with that.

No one picked her up and Everton are very fortunate.

It should be 1-0 to Arsenal.

They work the ball down the left hand side before the ball is cut back to Caitlin Foord in acres of space near the penalty spot.

She goes to smash the ball towards goal but instead pulls off a complete airshot and Everton clear the danger.

What a chance that was!

From that midfield position Victoria Pelova is so good at driving forards and looking for those forward passes.

Stina Blackstenius does try and lift it over Courtney Brosnan but it's offside.

We have seen it two or three times now, Pelova driving through and picking a pass. Everton need to pick her up and not allow her to do that.

An instant Arsenal response.

Stina Blackstenius is set in behind and this time opts to loft her finish over Courtney Brosnan, with the ball dropping just wide of the target.

It wouldn't have counted though as the offside flag was up on the far side.

Really good delivery and at the back post Sara Holmgaard gets on it.

It just doesn't drop well enough for Sara Holmgaard, she rises so high.

Oh so close to the opener!

Karen Holmgaard curls in a wonderful cross from the right hand side and Sara Holmgaard rises highest to meet the ball in the middle.

Her header is too powerful though and crashes off the face of the cross bar before bouncing behind.
