    Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are evenly matched, as they have been all season. And their Mercedes is comfortably quicker than any other machine. Expect Williams to be closer, once they have sorted their bodywork issues, with Red Bull looking pretty handy, too.

    Nico Rosberg snatches P1 back from Lewis Hamilton, but Hamilton responds almost immediately with a 1:43.476, just over a tenth quicker than his title rival and Mercedes team-mate.

    "This has been a fantastic track for us, winning the first ever grand prix here and winning the world championship with Sebastian Vettel - there are a lot of happy memories," said Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.

    When asked whether next season's car an Adrian Newey car, Horner added: "Adrian is as involved in the car as any of his predecessors. There is a lot of effort going into the car but Adrian is leading the layout and development of the car."
