Speaking of Fernando Alonso, I was interested to read the results of a study by Sheffield University yesterday.

They produced a statistical analysis that suggests Juan Manuel Fangio is the greatest Formula 1 driver in history if you take out the car's contribution. I won't pretend to understand the maths behind it, there's a lot of equations involved that look like the below, but it is an interesting read nonetheless. Check it out here., external

As for the greatest driver currently racing? Not the three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, but Fernando Alonso.

Unfamiliar with the lyrics from a 14-year-old song by American rapper Eminem? Then my introduction might just look a tad foolish.

Rather than the ramblings of a troubled mind, what I'm trying to say is that Fernando Alonso is back.

The Spaniard, who missed the Bahrain Grand Prix after an almighty crash in the season opener in Australia, has been given the all clear to race in this weekend's race in China, subject to medical checks after first practice.

    Guess who's back,

    Guess who's back,

    Guess who's back...
