"We thought it would be exciting because of the weather but reliability issues are proving to have a key role."
A Lewis Hamilton-less qualifying continues with Q2 under way.
Lewis Hamilton, speaking to Sky Sports: "These things are sent to try us and I am sure we will learn from it. It is just about trying to figure out the issue and making sure it doesn't happen again.
"You can overtake here, the tyres don't last as well so it perhaps won't be as simple as it was in that race (Hungary 2014).
"The car is quick, hopefully they get the issue fixed and we can have a race tomorrow."

"I'm trying to think of the last time Hamilton was at the back of the grid, I think it was Hungary 2014 when he had that fire in the pit lane. Had the team done a run in the final practice session would that have raised the issue and given the team two hours to sort it out rather than 18 minutes."
The last time Lewis Hamilton was knocked out in Q1 was at the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Briton went on to finish third, ahead of Nico Rosberg.
Tomorrow's race is set to be very, very interesting...
Real drama at the end of Q1 with the world champion out because of an issue with his Mercedes power unit.
I wonder how much they regret just doing one lap in final practice this morning?
17) Kevin Magnussen 18) Esteban Gutierrez 19) Jolyon Palmer 20) Rio Haryanto
No time: Lewis Hamilton, Pascal Wehrlein
Meanwhile, it is a Ferrari one-two at the top of the timesheet with Sebastian Vettel quickest with 1:37.001.
In danger are Jolyon Palmer, Kevin Magnussen, Felipe Nasr and Rio Haryanto...

"We commented on his demeanour after the defeats he suffered, he wasn't too perplexed. The reality of the matter is he needed to have a smooth weekend here. He knew he had a grid penalty but wasn't even too fazed by that, but now it is a completely different situation."
What a blow for the world champion. Beaten by Nico Rosberg to victory in the last two races and now he has it all to do tomorrow.
This race has never been won from lower than sixth on the grid.
It is over!
Lewis Hamilton is climbing out of his car and he will start tomorrow's race from the back of the grid!
Thirty seconds left for Lewis Hamilton. He's still not out and no time set...

"Mercedes have said Lewis still has a down on power engine, they haven't got on top of this and that is really going to hurt him at this track."
Lewis Hamilton is back out, so that's good to see, but it doesn't sound like Mercedes have got to the bottom of his power problems.
Hang on, he's going back into the pits! He's got about a minute to get back out or else he will be OUT.
With five minutes to go it is:
1) Rosberg 2) Button 3) Alonso 4) Grosjean 5) Ericsson 6) Palmer 7) Magnussen 8) Nasr 9) Gutierrez 10) Haryanto.
The owner of that car has been swiftly, and wisely, told to move.
Nico Rosberg then goes quickest, clocking 1:37.669, 0.6s quicker than Jenson Button.
"There's a car parked at the entrance to the pits. If we go off we are going to hit it," reports Jenson Button.
Of all the places to park...
Nico Rosberg heads out. Still no Lewis Hamilton as Mercedes work on his power unit issue.
He's got eight minutes before the end of Q1.

"McLaren very focused this year on making sure they get through. Last year they suffered 21 eliminations at Q1, the stats were truly awful for them."
We have our first time! Esteban Gutierrez with a 1:40.262. He is swiftly knocked off P1 as Jenson Button clocks 1:38.324, before Fernando Alonso slots into P2 as he goes 0.1s slower.
