With Lewis Hamilton four points behind in the championship race, he is wary that one more change to his power unit will result in a penalty.

It will explain why there were no celebratory doughnuts today too.

"I did everything I could to save that engine. I saved it for quite a long period of time.

"Keep your fingers crossed, I'm catching him," he says, pointing at Rosberg.

Nico Rosberg answers Mark Webber's question on the podium almost as quickly as he drove.

"It was a tricky start. Max got ahead then it was an exciting race. l got past him which I was happy about, but I couldn't catch Lewis - he did a great job today."

He gets some boos at the start of his answer, but commonsense prevails and he is cheered at the end.

"It's never plain, smooth sailing - that's why the British GP is the best."

    And then a pointed finish:

"You don't hear a lot of booing which is why it's always a good spirit."
